Fo' Shizzle! Snoop Collared Again

Looks like the Doggfather better avoid airports if he wants to stay out of the pound.

Less than a month after his run-in with airport security in Orange County, California, for attempting to stow an illegal weapon in his carry-on luggage, Snoop Dogg was busted Thursday by police at Bob Hope Airport in the Los Angeles suburb of Burbank for illegal firearm and drug possession.

The hip-hopster, otherwise known as Calvin Broadus, was taken into custody by airport police at 3:45 p.m. after officers served him with a traffic violation for stopping in a passenger loading/unloading zone. A search of his vehicle turned up a gun and marijuana, said Sergeant Kevin Grandalski, a spokesman for the Burbank Police Department.

Snoop was subsequently booked on charges of being a felon in possession of a firearm and transportation of a controlled substance and was released after posting $35,000 bail. He is scheduled to be arraignment on Monday.

(Snoop's felon status comes from a 1990 conviction on cocaine possession and a guilty plea for illegal gun possession in 1993. In 1996, a Los Angeles jury acquitted him of murder in a gang-related killing.)

Meanwhile, the rapper's attorney, Donald Etra, insists "there was no basis" for his client's arrest.

"We believe that once this is cleared up, all charges will be dismissed," Etra said in a statement.

Etra might soon be racking up the frequent freeway miles. Prosecutors some 40 miles away in Santa Ana are expected to decide in the coming days whether to charge the rapper for another airport-related transgression.

On Sept. 27, Snoop was detained by security at John Wayne Airport for unlawful possession of a collapsible police baton, an item banned on plane flights.

Because the baton is classified as a dangerous weapon, the matter was referred to the Orange County District Attorney's office.

"We are finishing up our investigation and should have an announcement soon," said D.A. spokeswoman Susan Schroeder.

But Snoop's airport mishaps are not limited to Southern California. In May, he received a caution from London police, and a lifetime ban from British Airways, after he and his entourage instigated a brawl with airline staff and airport police when some of them were banned from British Airways' first-class lounge at Heathrow.

wouldnt it be more of a pussy move to just hire security guards rather than just carry around a gun and protect YOURSELF?

In Snoop's case, a "pussy move" is literally impossible.

'Snoop Dogg' faces gun, drug accusation

BURBANK, California (CNN) -- Rap artist "Snoop Dogg" was arrested and booked for being a felon in possession of a firearm and transportation of a controlled substance at a California airport Thursday, according to the Burbank Police Department.

The 35-year-old rapper -- whose real name is Calvin Broadus -- was arrested by airport police at the Bob Hope Airport in Burbank, California, at about 4 p.m. (7 p.m. ET). He was parked in a passenger loading and unloading zone and was initially approached by an officer for a traffic violation, Burbank police said.

"An investigation revealed Calvin Broadus to be in possession of marijuana and a firearm," a police statement said.

He was arrested and taken to the Burbank Police Department Jail, where he was later booked, police said.

Snoop Dogg posted bail of $35,000 and was released. He is scheduled to appear at the Burbank Superior Court on December 12, said his publicist, Meredith O'Sullivan.

"There was no basis for this arrest," said the rapper's lawyer, Donald Etra. "We believe that once this is cleared up, all charges will be dismissed."

Snoop Dog, who has sold over 17 million records and acted in movies including "Starsky & Hutch," "Old School," "Training Day" and "Bones," has had several other run-ins with the law.

He was convicted on a felony narcotics possession charge in 1990, for trying to sell cocaine.

Six months ago he and several members of his entourage were detained by police at London's Heathrow Airport after a skirmish that left seven police officers with minor injuries.

The incident happened after Snoop Dogg and his crew were told by the airline that they would not be permitted to board a flight to Johannesburg, South Africa, Scotland Yard said

As police tried to direct the group to baggage reclaim, they became "abusive and pushed officers," according to Scotland Yard. The seven police officers received minor injuries, including cuts and bruises, and one suffered a fractured hand.

While in England for his 1994 "Doggystyle" tour, he was nearly kicked out of the country after a Tory minister and several British tabloids raised objections to his presence while he faced charges in the United States for murder, of which he was later cleared.
