Ok, i know that some people think that this stuff is a crock of shit, and they are entitled to their opinion - that's fine. But i know there are others out there that do believe in things of a less scientific nature, and this is a thread for those people. Discuss, share, debate, do what you like, but please leave your cynacism at the door... ;)
I'm gonna kick it off with KeenSydGuy's last post in the singles thread:

Iio Rapture is one of those songs that always gets me...it was the 7th song in a row that was played that I connected with. I knew something was there 2 the point i turned my lights off and drove through 3 give way signs not even looking or slowing down. Don't know why I turned them off, wish I haddn't but knew I'd be safe. I don't really believe or not believe in anything. Like I'm not a christian, but i don't not believe in different spirits, but then again, i've never really been strong for it either...so yeah, even weird..
I can relate to that... sometimes when i meditate i feel as though there is something in the room with me - call it a "presense" if you like. This is bestdescribed by a very sudden feeling of cold and then warm air, when i knew there were no draughts... Call me crazy if you must, but i couldn't explain it...
Anyone else willing to share?

Ok, here goes. I am a scientist - I have the piece of paper to proove it. I have also had enough experiences in my life to believe in a few non-scientific things. I have lived in a house where internal doors opened and closed themselves when no external doors/windows were open to let air flow through (also knocking on my bedroom door when no-one else was home, things rattling in the sink, and three different friends reported seeing an apparition when they stayed over, though I never saw it). I also find places that have a presence, sometimes really good and uplifting, sometimes neutral and sometimes malevoulent. I've had a couple of really nasty freaky experiences that I don't care to repeat. So yeah, I believe in engery flow and exchange (I practise reiki) so I guess that leaves me open to a few more things though I don't really think it's "supernatural", just a heightened perception of natural energies. *shrug*
Just don't tell anyone!

I've got a huge background in science, chemistry, biology, physics and the such.
One thing that I've learned from my stay in uni is that science is just as "airy-fairy" as what people consider "supernatural." Basically, science is a crock as well. Decartes said the only thing one can prove with science is that you have a beginning state and and end state. Whatever happens in the middle of it is always pure speculation and always will be. Quantum physics says you change to property of a something via the act of observation.
I say "FUCK IT ALL."
I live by the simple rule that there is no such thing as the supernatural or the natural, things happen. They may appear out of the ordinary, but, meh.
I have as little respect for people who follow "science" blindly as for people who believe nothing but "new age" watered down teachings. Any unshifting paradigm is destined for failure, simple as that.

Something wierd happend to me with my old Daihatsu rocky 4wd twice. My next door neighbour is really really RELIGIOUS.... and i mean REALLY !
Well she had given me this little magnet of Jesus to put somewhere in the car because she was really scared about my safety being in the """17 - 25""" driver age group (which i will admit, can be pretty dangerous drivers). But anyway, i had nothing to loose placing this magnet of jesus in my car, so then came the day some prick nearly T bones me, my cars gone up the gutter into loose gravel and slid sideways. Mind you time is traveling really slow and i can just see everything happening, i look out my window as my car is sliding towards a telegraph pole, shut my eyes in horror. The car had stopped a hands length away from the telegraph pole, i couldnt even open the door. I looked up to the Jesus magnet, it wasnt there, it was lying in my lap.
Second occurance,
Lets just say i was really angry for some reason... i was driving my car home furiously, trying to cool down abit, i put on my P.O.D. cd - alive. I had taken a roundabout tooooooo quick for a 4wd in the wet, spun 180 degree's, hit the island in the middle of the road, the car by this stage had reached an ALTITUDE ! and rolled over in the air !, come CRASHING down to earth, slid accross the opposite lane narrowly missing oncomming traffic, up the gutter and into a bus shelter (which no one was waiting at)...
Wierd - Once again the jesus magnet was in my lap......
funny - i could have done the P.O.D. video clip....
i now have a phobia of driving a car, specially when there's a jesus magnet somewhere inside....

We've got ghosts.
Not noisy spooks or anything remotely as cool, but every now and then the floorboards in the hall will go in sequence, or the doors will be open when left shut the night before, or vice versa, and no-one got up to go to the toilet. They've been around as long as I've been in the house, and it's nothing short of comforting to hear these ever-so-quiet signs of, well, something, that's still around and content. I'll miss them when I move out.
Wire.

My mum died in 1996, she killed her self at her Ex boyfriends house! and every year since on the day she died him and his new girlfriend see her at the sink doing the dishes!!!
my house is also haunted, i dont think there bad spirits or any thing but i refuse to sleep in my bedroom alone! i always see some one walk past me, or get a strange feeling like some one is in my room, and its always so cold in there!!

Well....
I'm beginning to have quite a lot of experience in this (due to my past dwellings [dwellings? There's a word you haven't heard used in convo for awhile ;) [God bless brackets in heirarchy]])
But enough of the drunken ramblings...
I was a semi beliver until I was 17 or so (always had a fuzzy idea something was beyond that which I could see... y'know?). Then I moved out into a house with my gf.
That house, particularly one area of it, was *extremely* haunted, particularly one small area of it. All the cats we ever had looked at the same corner of one bedroom for ages. I always felt breaths of air on my neck, etc. One time I actually got my chair shaken, in a way as if you'd walk up behind someone and shake their chair. In the end I used to tell it (the main presence) to leave me alone sometimes when I wanted privacy, and it usually worked.
I asked a psychic about it (and keep in mind before this, I was pretty much a sceptic of psychic, authentic ghosts, etc... I am a logical person, and tried to treat this no differently). She told me a number of things which she could not have known, even going to the point of telling me to bathe a recent wound (which was covered, with no outside indication of it) in epson salts to prevent infection and further trouble with it.
She told me the house was build where it should not have been, and that I would always have trouble there. And it was true - the house had a real negative energy to it... you didn't want to stay in the back two rooms - it always felt like someone was watching right over your shoulder.
There's a lot more to this ongoing story... I am now and then attempting psychic development, and am getting places... but since then I have moved house and the energy of the house is totally different. I can pick up residuals of the people that lived here, particularly one old woman who stands at the windowsill, but there's nothing negative.
Basically, I think that if you never have any direct interaction with something 'supernatural' (I use this term loosely because I don't believe they're 'super' compared to us) then you'll find it hard to believe any of it. If on the other hand you're confronted with something that you cannot explain, especially if it's for a prolonged period of time (I was in that last house over 5 years, and things happened *regularly* the entire time) then you'll believe.
I have given a brief description of some of the last 7 years. I hope people with experiences can open up more and post about it.

It's non-threatening... it's just there. Don't worry about it. Hell... say hi to him from time to time. If he wanted to do something to you he would have already, so just accept the fact that he is there. A lot of houses have the same, and it's probably nothing to worry about.

Hmm at that not so gentle prodding.
It’s 5am and I’m about to go cram a couple of hours sleep in before work, if I can fall asleep, so I’m not going to be able to give this thread justice, and mayhaps I’ll be back to post more later.
I just wanted to re-iterate what Jake said. Acknowledge the presence and accept that he or she is there, has been there for a while and perhaps isn’t going anywhere anytime soon. Ask your son what he feels about it (children pick up oh so much more than many adults) and you may be surprised by what he says.
The coldness… well that’s not likely to go away anytime soon it is a commonly reported with any psychic phenomena (I hate this label, call it what you will). Get a thicker doona :D
Most importantly though, tell it to go away if you want some alone time. It’s rare that a benevolent spirit will reject such a request.

Not sure if this fits into the Supernatural theme ,but its something I can't explain.
A few years ago a friend and I were rallying 2 cars deep in sydneys bluemountains when my friend came off the road and landed in a clearing .The car was bogged and would not move so I parked my car facing his in an attempt to push it out (no tow rope),tried a few things and nothing worked .The small clearing at which we landed was surrounded by trees ,dead quiet and pitch black with no houses for a good 10 km .
We heard some snapping noises so we turned the cars off to hear it better ,it sounded about 50 metres away and something big was walking towards us ,it got closer and closer louder and louder and then it stopped 10 metres away from us just outside the clearing in some trees and then all was quiet. We started both cars and turned the headlights on and after a few minutes passed it started making this strange gutteral growling noise and then a shrieking roar that was so fucking loud it went straight through us .
Ill be honsest I have never been so scared all my life and then it started thrashing about in the bushes .
It was very large it made bushes and branches fly about at least 8 - 10 ft up and then it stopped moving and was growling at us again ,By this stage we were terrified ,my friend and I were back to back with club lock and tyre iron in hand shitting ourselves and then a big dark shape started moving towards us so we let out a massive yell(as you do) and it backed off into the tree line ,it made that loud shrieking roar again and then moved away 20 metres or so in about a second ,it was very fast .It stayed where it was for a few minutes and then ran of and we could hear a big splash into water about 50 - 60 metres away and it was gone.
We left the bogged car there and drove home and did not speak a word the whole trip.
A couple of months ago I decided to have a search on the net to see if I could find out what the fuck it was ,And I found out that there has been over 5000 sightings of this thing all over australia since early pioneers settled here and countless more aboriginal sightings .

I'll second that. With my old house we decided that there was the house presence, which was pretty benign and 'belonged' to the house, so to speak, and also other 'drop-in' presences that would show up for a couple of days or weeks and weren't always pleasant. In the end we ended up talking to the 'house' presence, letting it know we knew it was there and asking it to aknowledge our right to reside there and that although we didn't mind it being there, that we had a problem with the 'drop-ins' and could they please stop. Things settled down after that. Interestingly there is a park just down the road from the old place that has quite an atmosphere about it. I suspect it could be an old bora ring or somesuch, but there's no pre-European history of the suburb so I can't confirm it.
Although unconnected (and not a yowie story); reading the reports about "yowies" around Lamington plateu - while exploring up a ridge in one of the valleys on the Canungara side of Lamington (above a friend's place on a cattle property) we entered a patch of rainforest from the cleared cattle country. Although there were trails in and cows could come in to feed, it looked like nothing had been up that way in a very long time. The whole place had a bit of an eery feel and there were a few things geologically 'wrong' with the site. We wandered further in looking for a way up to a waterfal we had been told was up there but there was no way through, then the eerie feeling turned downright oppressive, as though something had been disturbed and wanted us out of there. We got out as soon as we could and noticed the weather was all wrong when we came back out into the cleared land - the breeze that had been blowing across the face of the ridge was gone and a cold wind was rushing in to the forest patch we had been in. As we climbed down the ridge this turned into a wave of heat moving up from the gully towards the spot and by the time we got to the bottom, dark clouds were radiating out from the peak of the ridge. We felt like we'd pissed off a natural spirit of some description, as if we'd woken it up and it wasn't too happy about it. Neither of us will go back up there now, and there's still a malevoulant feeling at nights coming down the ridge. My friend started asking questions about the place and found out that the guy who did the land clearing up htere refused to ever go up there again. Apparently he had the dozer on the shoulder of the ridge and when he got to where the this spot is (the clearing stops dead on flat land by the way) he saw this huge snake as thick as the top of his calf and longer than the balde of the dozer. Instead of running it over as he would a normal snake he just turned the dozer around and hightailed it out of there. Even the cows barely go up to that shoulder and the whole place gives me the creeps just thinking about it.
Thanks for listening

Yeah, crock of shit.
Stuff happens.
If stuff is improbable or unlikely then I see no reason to make some rediculous thing up to explain it. Unlikely things happen... I mean people watch home and away and stuff. I see no reason why anyone would watch it but I dont' make stuff up saying they are posessed or anything.

my grandfather used to run a school for "supernatural" and new age stuff.. things like hypnosis and numerology righ up to psychic stuff like tarot and "channeling" (he got sucked right into the ptah scam too lol, lost thousands) anyway he used to operate from this building where, sometimes if there was only one person there they would hear someone crying in one of the rooms. it was quite clearly audible, loud even, and they taped it a few times. it would continue and sometimes call for help until they opened the door to the room it was coming from when it would suddenly stop. dead silence (ignore the pun). this was acompanied by thigns moving and doors opening/closing etc. all the regular things that happen with "ghosts". one day they got tired of it and my grandfather and a few of his friends went into the room and after talking to it for a while they asked for a sign that it was listening. the radiator blew up. so they told it to leave and they never heard from it again.

ill give these "ghosts" one thing, they always seem polite. if you ask them to go they will as long as you have the right amount of force in how you ask.

personally ive seen a few strange things, theres a park near my house where odd things happen all the time like lights above the water of the lake or street lamps going off all down the street and then turning on one by one as you walk past them. things like that always make me smile when im there :) it feels like the lake is letting you know that it knows youre there. like saying hello.

Glad this fruitloop is speeding around the darkened streets of Sydney, not Perth.

By all means, reject rationality if it leads to a more fulfilling life, but don't force your beliefs onto me, by putting my life at risk whilst exercising your hubristic beliefs about your own importance to the universe.

1 year, 18 posts and a thread later... you have to flame the guy?

Can't see as how any of that post is on topic about sharing your experiences, although I'm quite sure you've never done anything stupid in your life out of fear, probably never done anything to endanger the lives of others either - it's a pity the whole world doesn't share the same holiness.

There's always got to be one per thread....8)
