I Cannot find sleep
Reoccurring visions of
Anger and regret
Replace my peaceful
Exhausted mind
Behind watery eyes
Are blurred images,
Shadows and numbers
Memories forgotten
By the Night Before

Red wine stains the floor
Cigarette ashes the desk
I desperately need rest
Some sort of solace
I faintly hope
The memories behind these eyes
Are not those of my own
I was not myself
Nor were you, The Night Before.

What bitter irony
Is this undeniable reality
These potions concocted
To heal our woes
Make men like I capable
Of behaving our worst?
Seeking comfort I find aggression
In asking relief I find chaos
Perhaps a blessing, at least one of us
Cannot recall The Night Before
