Interesting article in Science yesterday. Here's a Twitter thread with a link to it:

I honestly have mixed feelings about that perspective. I think molnupravir falls into the class of drugs where there are definately risks to germline cells, and care needs to be taken to only prescribe in appropriate cases (say unvaccinated individuals with a high viral load/other risk factors).

Similar drugs are commonly used as antivirals for hepatitis B and HIV (among other viruses, but those are the most common). These usually involve much longer treatments than for covid (and risk can be approximated as the product of dosage and length of time the drug is administered). I could not find references to increases in cancer in these populations.

Due to the relatively short duration of treatment for covid, i do expect the cancer risk to be much less than the reproductive risk. However, this is still a medication that ought to be prescribed thoughtfully to avoid another thalidomide style shitshow.

As for mutating the viral genome, my gut feeling is that this drug should not be used in immunosuppresed patients without other adjunct treatments to improve viral clearance. I do however think this drug will reduce the viral load, and most people will be able to mop up the remaining infected cells.

As anticovid drugs go, i think paxlovid is likely to be better tolerated, as it hits a target that is less conserved between the virus and human cells (the protease, Mpro).

Frankly i think this drug has a better risk/benefit balance than something like ivermectin, which has (at best) extremely modest effects when studied in large, statistically powerful studies, and causes liver damage, cardiac effects, and neurological side effects in the doses necessary to replicate the cell culture experiments that showed effects on covid.

At the end of the day antimicrobial chemotherapy is always a game of weighing the benefits of a drug versus it's toxicity, and it is always a call to be made thoughtfully.

@Las Veghost grower that's one of those stories that is both hard to believe yet also hard to completely discount and make go away

It's one thing calling 1 person a liar, but 5? Their stories have not changed in 40+ years.

But the ever elusive hard evidence... the bane of UFO research.
Well supposedly there was actually a lot of people who saw the UFO that night, and you would think when the 4 were being suspected of murder atleast one of them would have been like “ok, it was just a joke he’ll be back in a couple days”. But I don’t know…between him and bob lazar they are 2 very convincing people

People are allowed to change their views when presented with new evidence or talking to experts on a matter. That’s one thing that bothers me with cancel culture nobody is allowed to change the way they look at life or have any growth at all, it’s like you said this at one point in your life that is you till the day you die…and Iv yet to hear the name of a better interviewer ;)

yeah exactly, but hell... there have been more complex scams before...

I still don't know what to make of that story.

It occurred during the height of the abduction UFO craze... which makes me doubt it a bit.

Personally, I believe in UFOs, but also believe almost 99% of the abduction stories out there can be explained as hoaxes or psychological phenomenon. I have reason to believe this but would have to point you to a few documentaries on it.

I will say this: it's no coincidence most people are abducted in THEIR SLEEP or at nighttime. That has a lot to do with it.

With anything involving UFOs or aliens, 95%+ is absolute bullshit and can be explained in simple ways.

Imagine if you had a dream about aliens abducting you... how would you sperate that from reality? How could you? It's virtually impossible due to the vivid dreams people tend to have and thus apply to their life.

The average abduction story starts with... I was in bed sleeping when I saw X and they did X... it's fairly obvious to me.

Sleep paralysis plays a role in many of these stories.

But... the Walton story? Dunno.... that's different.

Have you ever listened to Coast to Coast AM?

I used to listen to it when Art Bell was the host, then George Noory...is he still the host? I haven't listened to it in a long time

But yeah, back in the day when I was a young lad, like late 90s early 2000s I'd turn into Coast to Coast AM with my crappy radio and that's where I first learned about these guys like Bob Lazar etc.

Speaking of great interviewers, Noory was definitely one...I always got a kick out of how he was always so polite to his guests, even when they'd say some of the most ridiculous shit you'd ever hear in your life. Art Bell on the other hand, he could get sarcastic with guests sometimes

The one time I heard Noory falter just a tiny bit in his super-polite, nice guy persona was the one guest he had on who claimed that all religious (and certain non-religious cultural figures like Santa Claus) were merely metaphors for hallucinogenic mushrooms, and he mentioned Julius Caesar, at which point Noory asked, "what about Caesar, was he a mushroom too?" and I detected just a hint of sarcasm, lol. The guest seemed to catch on to it too, because he sounded a little miffed when he replied that no, Julius Caesar was a historical figure lol

One of the only other interviews that stands out in my mind (for some reason) was this guy who claimed that the only reason communism failed was because there was no religious/spiritual component to it, and that we should all live in a communist dictatorship but also worship Satan (oh yeah, I forgot to mention, he was a Satanist as well as a communist lol)

Those guys had on some great guests, voices that the lamestream media always tries to silence!

I never did, it was a bit before my time, but I have heard so many things about it and watched so many clips. George is still doing documentaries and shows, I love that guy.

I think my only complaint with George is that he focused too much on Bob Lazar during his career. I believe Lazar's story is mostly true, HOWEVER, he is also a government disinformation agent. It's too easy to make the connection with Richard Doty's admission and the whole spinoff story with him. The government has been putting out purposeful UFO disinformation as a perfect cover story to their top secret projects. I could go on forever about this and it sounds a bit convoluted, but I believe with good evidence that's the truth.

Anyways, I love both Art and George because they listened to the fringe but actually, at least George, also objectively investigated it in a rigorous and honest way.

I agree. It's bad sci-fi material, the whole 'element 115' thing. Classic misdirection, using enough truths about area 51 to keep you engaged, but then keeping people preoccupied with the relativistic paradigm instead of investigating into the works of Nikola Tesla - did you know Trump's uncle was the guy who was tasked with going through all of Tesla's possessions that were (illegally) confiscated when he died.

All they're interested in is throwing the public off the scent of the exotic technology they already possess, which is derived from Tesla's work (and possibly Schauberger's work too). UFO's and those goofy stories are just cover, bait to misdirect those with inquisitive minds and also repel the more level headed members of the public.

I watched a documentary on Tesla, which ultimately came to the conclusion while ahead of his time nothing he invented was even close to any kind of ground breaking sci/fi like technology, I don’t know too much about him tho

Your liver can regenerate, but if you damage the genetic structure of your body you're fucked. I would caution anyone to think twice about trusting the pharmaceutical companies with that level of power over your health/body.

People should be exploring other options first, ones which don't involve such powerful chemicals. Like, ensuring you're not deficient in any vitamins or minerals, that your diet is in check, etc. Obviously there's no money in that for the shareholders, but fuck them quite frankly.

You need to investigate it yourself really. They always try to frame his work via our current paradigm and electrical understanding, and then make claims about his work (and him). It's absurd. The stuff he invented, without computer aid and with just basic materials of that era, is mind blowing. They don't bother to retrace his steps and actually listen to what he was saying. In particular they completely gloss over his 'radiant energy' work (impulse current).

It's insulting when these people, who haven't invented or discovered anything, make assertions about his work based upon what they've studied and read in fucking books. I'm going to trust the word of someone who lived and breathed it, and produced multiple successes, over the words of academic know-nothings.

Nucleoside antivirals are unlikely to have a high incorporation rate in non-rapidly dividing cells, which is why this troupe of drugs isn't associated with massive increases in cancer risk.

I do agree that it is a rather intense option for covid treatment, and taking precautions such as maintaining a healthy diet, exercising, wearing masks, and being fully vaccinated are likely to preclude needing to take this drug.

I would expect most responsible doctors would only prescribe this to unvaccinated patients at a higher risk of death.

i eat a teaspoon of cod liver oil everyday in the winter to maintain my vitamin D levels.....i don't believe in oral pill vitamins - i don't think they work

this is the one that i think is the best because it's got a 1 year freshness date:

and now, back to the show....

did that seem like an advertisement? that's not what i intended

Everyone in my family have had their boosters, and none of them have told me anything other than a sore arm and maybe the shakes for a few hours. Aside from that they're all doing fine. My younger of my two full-blood sisters (she is the closest to me genetically) got the Pfizer as a booster and had no effects except for a sore arm. My arm is a bit sore today compared to yesterday. My sister never had much to say except she works in education and they're telling everyone who works with children to get boosted, even the teenagers are getting boosted now.
