most of us arnt anti vax, we just want to wait a couple years to see if there are any negative effects of THESE rushed vaccines…but by all means get vaxed, hopefully this isn’t a huge scandal in 5 years, but atleast I wouldn’t have taken it
I just don't think it's necessarily "crazy" that people would want the vaccine. I feel that a lot of times in these discussions people attribute negative motives/attributes to others, both on the pro and "anti vax" (or vax skeptic, or however you'd choose to categorize it) side...because the pro vax people think that you and people like you are "crazy" for NOT getting the vaccine. Pro vax people sometimes get criticized for being excessively concerned with their personal health, but the criticism could equally be leveled against someone who won't get a shot that's free-of-charge during a pandemic IMO. That's how I feel anyway. As far as risky life decisions I've made, I don't think that getting the vaccine even breaks the top 10.
Maybe you'll be right, and something terrible will happen to my health that'll be directly linked to the vaccine, and I'll have to come back here and eat crow and say "why oh why didn't I listen to Las Veghost grower and the other fine folks on BL?" I'm not perfect and I can admit it when I make a mistake. But, so far so good.
Most people don't have an extensive medical/scientific background in the virology or the life sciences or whatever, they haven't spent hours pouring over the scientific evidence regarding vaccine efficacy, so I just think it's unreasonable to say they're crazy for accepting assistance from the medical establishment during a difficult time. Is my family physician lying to my face when they tell me that the vaccine provides meaningful protection against covid 19?
I don't think a lot of people here are "against vaccines", and most people here have had normal vaccines like MMR. The Polio vaccines you mentioned are not the same as the new mRNA technology shots that are being pushed. Being skeptical of a new medical technology which has been rolled out so quickly that people getting shots don't even have long term safety data, is not being anti-vax or against vaccines. These are not traditional vaccinations.
Yes, it's certainly a novel way to administer it, but I actually thought it was a clever way that only exposed the body to a fraction of the original virus...getting an old-school vaccine, where you receive the live virus, seems like it would be more risky, not less. And with every medical innovation that eventually becomes standard, it BEGINS with a person or people, there is no way around that. The wide-scale use of mRNA technology (albeit built on research that predates covid 19) is BEGINNING with us in the modern era...but that doesn't necessarily mean its bad, anymore than it was bad when the first polio vaccine was administered.
But, as I mentioned before, most people don't have either the academic background or the time to spend pouring over the available data until they discover, a-ha! I found it! The conclusive proof that spike proteins are the devil! I include myself in that, I'm not Dr. Burnt Offerings, Ph.D., M.D., Esquire here, I'm just some asshole on the internet. So who am I supposed to listen to, these eggheads who tell me it's safe and effective or some other assholes on the internet?
This will probably be my last post about it though. I'm sick of talking about covid 19 and related topics.
