US Politics The Mueller Investigation - report is out

There's a North Korea thread >
Though last I checked there was a bit of tension but the talks are ongoing.

President Trump SHREDS Obama For Failing To Take On Russian Hackers
https://truepundit.com/president-trump-shreds-obama-for-failing-to-take-on-russian-hackers/

President Donald Trump responded Saturday to a series of indictments made against Russian hackers as part of Robert Mueller?s ongoing investigation by laying the blame squarely at the feet of former President Barack Obama.

Deputy Attorney General Rod Rosenstein issued a dozen indictments Friday against ?Russian intelligence officers? connected to a cyber warfare operation that hacked a DNC server in 2016, and breached several state election systems, exposing the information of around 50,000 voters.

It?s not clear whether the Department of Justice will be able to bring the 12 individuals, who called themselves ?Guccifer 2.0,? to justice in the United States.

What is clear, Trump said Saturday, is that Barack Obama?s administration was remiss in handling the hacking threat from Russia, giving the Russians license to meddle in American elections.

Donna Brazile says in her new book the Democratic National Committee (DNC) went against professional advice and sat idly for a month while Russians stole data because primaries were still underway in a number of states.

In May, when CrowdStrike recommended that we take down our system and rebuild it, the DNC told them to wait a month, because the state primaries for the presidential election were still underway, and the party and the staff needed to be at their computers to manage these efforts,? Brazile wrote in her new book, ?Hacks.?

And in June left-leaning Mother Jones reported in March that President Barack Obama's National Security Advisor, Susan Rice, ordered officials to "stand down" as Russia allegedly attempted to meddle in the 2016 presidential election.

In June whistle-blower Michael Daniel testified before Congress that Susan Rice ordered him and his staff in the White House cybersecurity team to ?stand down? in regard to Russian attempts to meddle with the 2016 election

Deputy Attorney General Rod Rosenstein confirmed that the DNC server was never actually hacked.

Rather, the emails were obtained through a ?spear phishing? email scam which THOUSANDS of others, including Republicans fell for.

?The defendants used two techniques to steal information. First they used a scheme known as spear phishing, which involves sending misleading emails and tricking the users of disclosing their passwords and security information,? Rosenstein said.
?Secondly, the defendants hacked into computer networks and installed malicious software and allowed them to spy on users,? Rosenstein continued.

The computer networks Rosenstein was referring to was a Congressional campaign, not the DNC server.

The one Ukranian guy I know (met him in chemotherapy) is anti-Russia.

OK I know many people from the Ukraine, they are all fine with Crimea being a part of Russia again, and not against Russia as they all remember when the Ukraine was part of the USSR.

What a simplistic comeback. I know all varieties of Eastern Europeans from my former line of work. I'd say it's split about evenly. The Ukrainians all but universally agree they could do without the Russians, and the ethnic Russians think they are taking back territory that is rightfully theirs. Are you of Russian descent or something? Why the disingenuous apologist attitude?

As one of my ethnic Ukrainian friends put it, Russia still wants to be the Soviet Empire. But they are a third rate economy and military power and are willing to do anything to put on a show to demonstrate to the world they are still a global power even though everyone knows they aren't.

They must be Russians from the Ukraine because every Ukrainian I have met (10 plus) hates the Russians

An overwhelming majority of Crimeans voted in favor of reuniting with Russia. Crimea's population refused to recognize (with good reason) the new government in Kiev, which came to power on February 21, 2014, viewing it as illegitimate. The citizens of the autonomous republic, home to an ethnic majority Russian population, feared the coup-imposed leadership wouldn't represent their interests and respect their rights and choices.

Crimea and Sevastopol, a city with a special status on the peninsula, voted for independence from Ukraine and to rejoin Russia in a referendum on March 16, 2014. The decision was supported by more than 1.2 million people, or roughly 97 percent of voters with an 83-percent turnout.

You kmow that the russian federation's "democracy" is considered to be a farcical theatre mascarading as democracy, right?
I imagine this is like putin's enormous landslide victories.

It's almost as if you're an apologist for authoritarian practices...

That's the most compelling evidence we have so far. The rest are anecdotes.

Pretty sure that Crimean living standards have improved since the referendum.

Also you're the one who likes to hit people for saying words, my unknowingly-authoritarian comrade.

Back on-topic:

This whole investigation started flawed with the dossier.
The FBI/Strzok for the first time just admitted the FBI received information from Bruce Ohr for the dossier.
Bruce Ohr was 4th-ranking official within the DOJ.
His wife Nellie Ohr worked for Fusion GPS, the ones who received DNC money to compile the dossier (Russian election interference)
The dossier was the key element they needed to get the wiretap against Carter Page.

Personally I don't consider any vote legitimate when it's more than about 70% or so in any given direction. Nothing that unanimous ends up needing to be voted on.

What I wrote is not simplistic, disingenuous, or apologetic. It's the truth as others have posted here.

Haha, while I'm pan-European or have a heritage from multiple regions and countries of Europe: Central Europe, Southern Europe, Western Europe, and Norther Europe, and I easily pass in all of the countries from those regions of Europe. I'm not Eastern European or Russian at all.

The Tartars got fucked, but it was going to happen eventually. They have been thriving in Siberia, and in Uzbekistan, Turkey, Romania, and Bulgaria for awhile now. Crimean Tatars are not native to Crimea...they were part of Otoman Empire (Crimean Khanat) and their trade was to capture Slavic people and sell them to the Turks...only for that they should have been rooted out in Crimea..they actually flourished in between two wars but sided with German occupators ..look at Tatarstan where there are 2.5 millions of them living in harmony with Russians...Russia is only place in the world where native muslims enjoy all their rights.

It's simplistic because it's a personal anecdote and doesn't prove or substantiate your broader original claim. I don't expect much more because you basically never try and flesh out your statements.

Removed the off topic.

Priest, drop the incessant criticism of CEP or just stop posting here. I'd be happy for either. :)

Thanks.

Now that the FISA application has been released we know the following:

-The Russian collusion fairytale is a complete hoax
-Hillary's team paid for the hoax
-The court was lied to about the hoax
-The media was in on the hoax
-Democrats are all-in on the police state

Documents Confirm The FBI paid Christopher Steele for the Phony Pee-Pee Dossier

And now this is a bit surprising, ex-DNI James Clapper is throwing Obama under the bus over Russiagate:

"If it weren't for President Obama we might not have done the intelligence community assessment that we did that set up a whole sequence of events which are still unfolding today including Special Counsel Mueller's investigation. President Obama is responsible for that. It was he who tasked us to do that intelligence community assessment in the first place."

Seriously, if you could find one reputable source for your ideas, I'd be gratified. I know you will quibble over what exactly reputable means, and of course I mean anything that is not blatantly far/alt-right or vapidly pro-Trump. It surprises me that you keep putting forward arguments using The Gateway Pundit to substantiate your arguments; it literally does the opposite of what you intend.

I'm almost thinking you're a deep cover liberal ;)

It seems like everyone except Trump was in on this hoax.

I thought Hilary couldn't even send secure emails; yet she orchestrated a hoax involving the courts, the media, and presumedly the then president of US? And only far-right conspiracy nutjob websites somehow have evidence of this truth? Does that really sound plausible?

Leaving that aside, what about some real evidence?

Well it doesn't because their reporting has generally been solid. Time proves a source legitimate or not. I don't like some of the incendiary language that True Pundit often uses for eg as the goal should not be to stoke division, but it is a solid source. Being conservative or pro-Trump does not make a journalist automatically wrong.

lol I am Libertarian/liberal

Didn't say orchestrated, said paid for the hoax. This was a joint effort with many players who had one common interest.
Also the money was hidden and funneled through Perkins Coie Law > Fusion GPS > MI6 Steele > Russians.
So not only is that collusion with Russians to influence an election (plus illegally wiretapping Trump) but that's a violation of campaign finance law which is the same thing they're accusing Trump of with Stormy McDaniels.

Washington Times said:
The applications are heavily redacted. The FBI's central piece of evidence in the unredacted parts is the dossier compiled by Mr. Steele, a former British spy hired by Fusion GPS with money from the Hillary Clinton campaign and the Democratic National Committee. In other words, the FBI was relying on partisan opposition research to target Mr. Page for a year of intrusive phone and electronic intercepts.

Mr. Steele's dossier made several charges against Mr. Page.

The Ukrainians all but universally agree they could do without the Russians

And for good reason. They know that if Ukraine falls under Russian control, it'll end up resembling a dystopian shit-hole like Belarus instead of a thriving, peaceful modern country like Estonia or Latvia. And the Russian speakers in eastern Ukraine only adhere to Russia because they're inundated with so much Kremlin propaganda that they can't think straight (Putin may be one evil fuck, but I have to admit that he's a damn genius when it comes to information warfare).

As one of my ethnic Ukrainian friends put it, Russia still wants to be the Soviet Empire.

World domination is an ancient trope in the Russian imagination that predates even the Byzantine empire. It's not even quite a desire for world domination, it's more like they consider most of the world outside of Russia to be a collection of breakaway factions that should've always belonged to Russia ("Russians have forgotten what Rus is: it is the foot of the Throne of the Lord!" -St. John of Kronstadt).
