Maybe it's me, but I really don't understand where this "fuck off you plebs, we are 1337" vibe is coming from. Most of the senior staff and many of the moderators have commented in this thread trying to help, so I'm failing to see how any of us have an elitist attitude. :\

auto, if this is a genuine concern that you have, seriously start a thread in support. there are several staff members who don't come in the lounge but often visit support. so, maybe your concerns could reach a broader audience there since that's the appropriate forum to bring stuff like this in, rather than the small handful of us who post in the lounge. just a thought. :)

If the lounge all just sat around and blazed a fatty, BL would be a better place.

You don't see these flame wars in Cannabis Discussion. No one holds grudges when they have a short-term memory.

Easy to implement. Links to other sites. BL could become a host, offering hosts to minisite/forums within the BL network.

So....we'd solicit donations to pay for Bluelight, we'd then pay for anyone who wished to run a sub-site, which we had no authority over? But we (well, Johnboy) would actually have responsibility for it, seeing as his name is on the domain registration form. So if one of those minisites decided to become 'drug/trash talk with underage tentacle rape porn', we'd be the ones to get into trouble.

So we'd have to moderate the sub-sites, and have rules there. Which brings us back to what we have now. As far as I'm concerned ,BL is already similar to what you describe. If the typical Lounge rat posted their usual posts in TDS, they'd be banned in a day or so. Different forums, different norms, different levels of acceptability. We've got completely different communities on here that don't interact; or do so with minimal overlap. Which is fine by me.

give people a playground to socialize, share, and have fun on the webs with likeminded individuals.

Sounds like Bluelight now, to me.

Tell me I made a mistake and say why. Then I will try not to do so again. If you just close it I don't know what happened, was it a glitch in the system, or how did i fail so i can prevent it. I wan't to push the line not cross it. When I cross it let me know, then i can better obey my masters.

My advice to you would be to try to stay well away from the line. It should be obvious, after having been warned multiple times and banned twice, what's acceptable and what isn't. We give reasons in our warnings (or we should). If any of your warnings are unclear, I can look them up and explain the reason for them.

Look, I like you. Most of the time. You're a funny and intelligent guy, but every so often you shit on the forum, and we have to clean it up. Eventually (as in now) that sort of behaviour becomes something that we're not interested in cleaning up anymore; it's better just not to have you around.

On your other point: warnings are no longer issued from Soup Nazi, but from the actual mods. Personally I prefer it this way, and I think I'm in the majority, though there are arguments the other way.

Nice post(s) TLB.

I agree that all members (staff included) should read what you wrote.

:)

i consider my posts art. you cant tell me what to make as art.

^yes but you cannot run a site smoothly claiming complete freedom of expression. by that token someone could claim that their "email me for cheap pills" post was in fact art and should not be interfered with. where's the line, dude, seriously?

as it's been noted repeatedly, we're volunteers. it is in our best interest to be minimal in our moderating decisions. do you think we warn/ban people for the fun of it? do you know how much of a pain in the arse it is to ban someone? fyi, we gotta log into a separate area. who has the time?

also fwiw, when the soup nazi was active, i didn't know how to use or not use it so all of my warning were signed with my handle manually just in case. i agree that accountability and transparency is paramount. and as such if anyone has a problem with one staff mbr, they can easily call on others. keep in mind, though, that if you have a problem with so many staff mbrs that you fell like you have no one you can turn to, then question what you are doing. If you think the world is nuts, chances are it is you.

If you look up bluelight.ru on google there are heaps of other sites that come up which are about the site owners and domain names and ip adresses and whatnot.

I find this disturbing. This is because I am paranoid and know jack shit about technology. So with those two awesome powers combined my brain is thinking the domain owners can be found and get in deep shit.

amirong???

this is a link but my link button forbids me linking anything and i dunno what the [thingie] is

why would anyone associated with this site get into trouble?

Because what has happened in the past (brownrave, raids in Perth few years back) accentuate said paranoia. Though yeah, no one does illegal things simply by doing harm reduction, but organising meetups where drugs will most likely be around= potential trouble.

lolart

That's the stupidest fucking thing I've heard in my life.

But seeing who it's coming from, their post history, and realizing it's more than likely a troll post . . . whatever! :)

the information you found has no bearing on such scenarios, so all swell. :)

Thank you - I needed a good laugh <3

To MP, DT, and anyone else I quoted (even chicken fucker) know I wasn't speaking to you personally, the response was for all who entertain a similar thought. I :ave nothing against you, just seizing the opportunity to reply and educate :)

I'm on my mobile for the weekend so this is more painful for me to post than it is for you to.read. Either I will be forced to be short, or really take forever to enter a reply, ormost likely I won't post much at all. No matter what - you win ;)

I would sincerly request this remain in the lounge, not support. Part of the problem is the members who never go to support but continue to complain in lazy ignorance.

To address some replies here, I'll have to wait until I have a real keyboard. My phat fucking fingers aren't functional on this damn phone. Plurmonster can take this as 'he sucks' for convincing me to get this. I need an iphone :p
