there are a number of sayings in gun circles you will hear like, better to be judged by 12 than carried by 6, or rather have it and not need it than need it and not have it, dont bring a knife to a gunfight...there are plenty more. i for one happen to think its just another type of tool for ppl to use. who wants to hunt with a snare and line in some remote dangerous wilderness when they could have a gun. youre not taking a giant buck at 250yrds with a bow either. and yeah, it is fun to shoot stuff. no denying that. thing is unless you are pretty wealthy and reloading your own ammo it isnt really economically feaseable to go and shoot hundreds of rounds of ammo unless its like 22lr, which is harder to find a brick of than ever....pricier too. if im around a bunch of ppl that have guns, criminals ect, yeah, i want a gun to protect myself and anyone else. when some psycho fuck pulls a gun intent on planting you in the ground because he wants your phone or shoes, and in reality is still going to kill you anyway for a thrill kill. you going to try and run and chance you wont be hit? there is a limit to it all tho...no civilian need an auto matic weapon or burst weapon in any caliber. just last month some old guy shot and killed 2 intruders with a 22 pistol, the intruders had larger cal guns. if you are a wicked shot, then you can obviously drop someone with a tiny little 22lr. i get having a powerful gun, as i own a few (moderate here, nothing bigger than a 45, which is almost tame by todays standards since you can get pistols that will shoot .308 lolwut?) people buying 50 cal guns and rifles just doesnt make sense to me. its super expensive to shoot it, you need 2 sets of ear buds, and youre going to need gloves as to not get powder burns. thats no fun.
and the issue about someone pointing a gun at you if you dont have yours drawn, its practice to draw quick. and how many here have seen those wildest police videos wherethere are 2 idiots wildly shooting a few feet from each other and missing every round in the mags? happens a lot. but it only takes one shot to the right stop to kill you, so the odds on that are pretty high, giving you just a few secs maybe to draw your gun and get a few rounds off, hoping you are a better shot. ive got a laser grip on my 45 so its made me lazy when i shoot that, but the others i need to remember my basics. dont be a hero, dont go looking to be a hero, but if its yu or someone whos looking to do you in, in my mind im going to do all i can to ensure its them and not me. also i dont believe in shooting to wound, you only pull the trigger on something you want to kill. one of the first things you learn next to dont keep your finger on the trigger. this thread will go on for years lol
