California elections officials order Republicans to remove illegal ballot drop boxes

Top elections officials in California are scrambling to find out how many illegal ballot drop boxes Republican staffers put up in three counties across the state over the weekend, as local law enforcement authorities continue to search for outstanding witnesses and potential suspects. The state's Republican Party, meanwhile, has indicated that it won't comply with an official order to remove the boxes, and may even add more.

Republicans say this is just ballot harvesting — a practice that allows volunteers, organizations, or campaign workers to collect completed ballots and drop them off at county election offices.

"The Democrat anger is overblown," said California GOP spokesman Hector Barajas. He added that state laws and regulations don't indicate whether private organization's drop boxes are permitted or not.

THIS was the anger conservatives expressed over Democrats 'ballot harvesting' which allows for voter fraud (remove ballots, add ballots, etc). However, it is the Republicans doing this, and remaining adamant about not stopping, despite the unethical and perhaps illegal aspect of doing it.

This is as disgusting as any tactic I've ever seen used by any political party in my lifetime. People belong in prison for this!!!

I agree prison is warranted IF fraud can be proven. People have done 'ballot harvesting' for years and not been punished for it. These public drop boxes, I believe, are illegal in that only election officials can decide to set up such collection points. However, over the years political groups have gone by and 'ballot harvested', canvasing neighborhoods and 'helping' folks fill out their ballots. Is it illegal? Is it fraud? Or is it simply ensuring folks who can't get off work to vote in person can get their vote counted? Where it gets more troubling is when you have places like Broward County Florida where there are repeated instances of car trunks stuffed with ballots 'in case they are needed' which are forgeries and fraud. And yet, the local director of elections there refused to resign.

Side note, the Republicans noted in the article for creating the drop boxes were doing so as a counter to the 'ballot harvesting' Dems have been doing in the area for years. Again, is it helping citizens or setting up a mechanism to control the votes and create fraud? For either party?
 
Trump’s town hall, which aired on three networks, had lower ratings overall than Biden’s. Shocking.
ABC's live town hall event with Joe Biden Thursday night drew 14.1 million viewers, surpassing the final Nielsen ratings for NBC's town hall with President Trump, which was aired across NBC, MSNBC and CNBC and drew 13.5 million viewers in the same hour.

Why it matters: The president's lively hour-long town hall, moderated by Savannah Guthrie, was expected to trounce Biden's more calm, policy-focused hour and a half town hall event moderated by ABC's George Stephanopoulos.

Be smart: Nielsen's ratings include viewership on broadcast and cable channels that aired each town hall (ABC for Biden and NBC, MSNBC and CNBC for Trump), as well as viewership of those channels on internet-connected TVs and out-of-home viewership (viewership at bars, restaurants, etc.)

Between the lines: Prior to Thursday night's Trump town hall, NBC was slammed for agreeing to air its town hall at the same time as the ABC event.

  • “Today” host Guthrie drew both praise and criticism for her hard-hitting interrogation-style line of questioning to Trump.
  • The Biden town hall was comparatively very postured.

The "I was hacked" excuse is weak and would be eaisly proven but twitter will never release their logs of that activity on the account. The supposed hack should be investigated by a third party like the FBI. If it really was a hack it would constitute meddling in the election.

Following up on this... The moderator for the cancelled second debate, Scully from C-SPAN, has been suspended.
Scully was indefinitely suspended on Thursday after he admitted to falsely claiming his Twitter account was hackedwhen a message he sent to former Trump aide Anthony Scaramucci began drawing the ire of Trump and his allies.

What to watch: Trump will tell more jokes and try, if he can stay on message, to strike a softer tone. At the same time, aides expect Trump to keep going after Biden's son Hunter.

Be smart: Trump's team thinks that if he'd just yield the stage to Biden while the moderator is asking questions, Biden would wander rhetorically, "look doddering" and "step on himself."

A few thousand votes in swing-state Minnesota may decide November's presidential election. In this crucial swing state, one Democratic candidate came forward in July, in a largely unnoticed and untranslated video, to allege that the state's DFL machine was buying votes in Minneapolis' Somali-American community.

In recent years, multiple Somali-Americans living in Minneapolis-St. Paul have come forward to describe vote-buying, ballot-harvesting, and intimidation operations of historic scope in the Democratic Party-controlled area. Some have brought evidence to state and federal law enforcement, though little action has been taken. These whistleblowers explicitly name Rep. Which is exactly what is going on in our campaigns now. People being told "give me your vote for money."

The old men or women, when you go to them to ask for their vote, they respond "I can't vote for you unless you pay."

Recently I sent a van from my campaign to give a ride to voters who promised to vote for my campaign, mostly older women, we picked up eight people. When the driver and the eight people arrived at the voting center the voters told the driver "na af garta" which means "sort us out." So the driver called me and said this is what they are saying. I asked, "What does that mean?"

They responded, "It means our vote is worth $200 a person, we are being promised that amount, but because you are a nice young lady and we like you and how hard you are working, we will take $100 a vote instead."

What I did was I instructed the driver to turn around and take them all back home.

I will only get my votes based on my qualifications, record, personality, and platform. I will not get involved in that. As long as they want money for a vote, tell them to go back to the people who promised them the $200, and vote for them.

I met this woman and I asked her, "Have you voted?" She responded "yes."

I asked her, "Aunty, how, because the vote has not happened yet, it's on the 26th of this month this time." She responded, "I don't know."

I then asked, "Who did you vote for?" She responded, "Wallahi I don't know."

So I asked, "How did you know you voted?" She responded, "Someone came and forced me and took my ballot."

I responded, "OK, so what did he say or do?" She replied, "I don't know, he was a Somali man, I just gave it to him."

But people have to know this ugliness. I am telling you I will continue to fight for my people. Since I was a teenager, I have done public service for years. I can't and won't participate before, now, or in the future — I will not sell or buy my people for a couple hundred dollars.

This is how it has been for years, and only now are people inside the Dem machine exposing it in MN. Where else is this happening? This is why conservatives push for one person = one vote, with voter IDs and registration; to slow the fraud. It's one thing to be beaten fairly by the voice of the people. It's another thing altogether to have a corrupt system against you.

You're take, and the liberal talking point. We can take that to another thread, but your jump to attacking that specific point and ignoring the point of the post (voter fraud, admitted, by a Dem worker) speaks louder.
 
And more....by Dems, no surprise. Only an accusation at this point, based upon two affidavits submitted from witnesses

Biden Campaign Operative, Texas State Senator Accused of Mail-in Ballot Fraud

New affidavits filed with the Supreme Court of Texas (SCOTX) Monday allege a coordinated ballot harvesting operation in Harris County.

The two testimonials specifically name state Senator Boris Miles (D-Houston) and Harris County Commissioner Rodney Ellis (D-Pct. 1) as leaders of an election fraud scheme that involves stealing absentee ballots from nursing homes and forging voter signatures.

Another individual named is Dallas Jones, a political operative overseeing Democratic presidential candidate Joe Biden’s Harris County operation.

According to the testimony, ballot harvesters collect absentee ballots from “the elderly in nursing homes, from the homeless, and from unsuspecting residences’ mailboxes.” They then complete the ballots and forge the signature of the voter.

Witnesses also told the investigator that two employees in the Harris County Clerk’s office are facilitating the operation and working to mix the forged ballots in with legally submitted ballots.

The affidavit also alleges that previous county Clerk Diane Trautman, who abruptly resigned in May, was aware of the illegal activities and investigation and told Ellis she was concerned about being arrested for election fraud.

The other testimony, delivered by a former Houston police officer, asserts explicitly that he has videotaped corroboration of these claims.

The article continues, with reference to several other voter fraud instances without naming any particular political parties in any of the other instances.

This specific one, references nursing homes, should hardly come as a surprise. The idea of 'helping' the elderly has long been a concept depicted in tv and film (again, not a political party, but just the practice).

I can’t help but think that there was always a small portion of fraud in elections, the difference being this year it’s going to be looked at with intense scrutiny and completely overamplified to help Trump build his case to challenge the election results.

So, what’s more worrisome this year? The potential small amount of fraud that has taken place every election, or Trump encouraging people to stand outside polling places and intimidate people and openly and actively suppress votes?
