The Ferguson thread / additional race discussion

I've never 'acted on it' whatever 'it' is. Its not like I get genocidal thoughts when exposed to people of other races.

Anyways, I spent about an hour trying to put my thoughts down about the comparing of violence that is state sanctioned and between citizenry. I wanted to say it is almost insulting to those in the camp of supporting the cry against perceived police violence against blacks, to bring up how often blacks kill blacks, and even interracial crime... But no, I have to also think it may be able to be figured in, even if there is explanation for it.

And, attitude got Mike Brown killed.

It most certainly did. He rolled the dice and put himself in that situation. He had full responsibility of where he was when that cop had the thought that his life was in danger and he needed to use his weapon. Nobody forced him into that. Well I shouldnt say that. Im sure America and white people are to blame for him being there somehow.

I have racist impulses sometimes too. But a part of being a civilised human capable of critical thought is to apply the rational part of your mind and not act on momentary impulses.

Its not just on race simpleton. There could be many things that come to peoples mind. We all do it in some way whether we like it or not. I dont have racist impluses but i might not like the mood or body language someone is displaying so ill draw a conclusion right there. It could be clothes, body language, hair style, maybe they look confused, tired etc etc. But people have some thought that comes their way. Its not just blank. If you think it is, your just not being honest with yourself. Its simply the brain adapting to the everyday environment that has so many different types people with so many social interactions happening to make those social interactions easier and quicker to deal with. If it didnt, all situations would just be harder to deal with unnecessarily and they would take more time to complete. If there are two cashiers, its easier for the brain to automatically decide which one you will feel the most "comfortable" with by grouping them into a particular category. Whatever category that is. For some it might be race, for some it might be something else. This just comes with years of dealing with people. A child wont have a developed way to do this as someone older. Its "natural."

sure - i can relate to this.

but that's not what what 23 said. he made it quite clear - for him it is absolutely a "blacks" or "whites" issue.

Ya your right. I agree with that. Didnt mean to steer it off topic a little bit there. Could have shortened that up seeing as it didnt have much to do with the discussion here. My bad.

Damn, is that the new host for some nightly daily type show. That guy wasnt very good. The whole skit wasnt very funny but that guy was pretty weak. Jon's always good for a few laughs. I dont have cable anyways.

The contents was just something we have all heard before. Bad white people. BUt what do you expect from the grandpa factor. He probably doesnt even know what he is saying or where he is. They probably just stick him in from of the camera and turn it on when he is in mid ramble. Can you imagine if people were running around saying "white churches?" I like that. Like black only schools and black only associations. Eh, nothing new here. Like many people have said here before, cant take that show literal if your looking for news. Cant really go anywhere thats not bias really though.

One thing he did say was that was good, racism will always be here. Tribe against tribe. Many races have experienced discrimination. So lets just move on and find another case with some actual police brutality thats on video too. That would make this thing a whole lot easier. Good job america. Way to pick a great case where we can reaffirm the racial lines and get angry at each other over and stay divided. Couldnt pick a dozen or so other cases where the piggy blasts the obviously non threatening person right in front of the camera. Oh and Ill be sure not to talk about black on black crime. Ill go to the white on white crime.

Yeah and that's the difference. If i am waiting in line down at say crappy tire i choose the shortest line and i think most would. He on the other hand seems like he wouldn't feel comfortable getting some black or brown person to check his whippets or whatever through the cash and simply put them in a fucking bag. That just seems nothing other then completely fucked to me.

To mention, I also choose the shortest line, more or less. And there is a girl at Whole Foods that I go to, to her line, over white males and most females otherwise... And she is Black. I go to her because she is friendly and unique. She's one who makes me challenge my box. Who allows me to see I simply assign things ways sometimes, and it may not be how I assign, and argue.

Hey (pa) learn to read. Your post doesn't work.

But I usually choose the most attractive person to deal with if I have the choice.

But maybe attractive can mean more things than pretty.

Oh yeah I needed to hear Jon Stewart or should I say Jon LEIBOWITZ take on this.

Yeah, because we all know Jews can't be trusted, amirite? Seriously, why would you even think that was a good idea to bring up in a thread like this?

Just make sure their on your property or close enough to drag them onto it.

Oh yeah I didnt go out there with any emotion just pure logic. The whole time I am thinking of the law. Honestly I would just like to jack some would be thief in the face and call the cops. I was quite hung over and that is the only thing that concerned me. The last thing I need in life is to get george zimmermanned

I learned something today.

Damage by riots apparently isn't coverered by insurance.

Oh but fuck I forgot the business owners deserved it because they aren't commies. God I keep forgetting how out of my depth I am here.

Damage by riots apparently isn't coverered by insurance.

Small independent stores typically aren't covered, but some are. Giant retail chains like walmart insure their products and structures. Items broken or damaged during logistical operations alone would be enough to make sure that their stock is insured. Not only does business insurance cover civil unrest, but small business has a range of coverage options from window coverage, to structural coverage to product coverage.

Looks like you learned something else today. By a communist. Go figure.
