For anyone unaware an MMO addition to The Elder Scrolls franchise was recently announced.

Not much info on it yet, so I wont even speculate on that. From what I've heard it will have 3 faction PvP (source)

Teaser Trailer - not much to it, pretty much just saying it exists.

Will be interesting to see the direction they go with this.

I wish this game had come out 10 years ago when I could afford to spend hours and hours addicted to an MMO.

I love all of the elder scrolls games and always thought the engine would be perfect for an MMO. Im glad theyre taking the success they've had with skyrim and running with it.

Thats the thing Ive heard they arent using the same egnine as the single player games but the Hero engine instead (what Swtor uses). I have a feeling this is going to be Swtor 2.0. Established franchise that relies on the name alone to sell boxes when all they really made was World of Warcraft: The Elder Scrolls. Not to mention this will take focus/funding away from any future Elder Scrolls non-mmos.

I hope Im wrong of course because the MMO market is crashing and burning right now. Not financially-wise, but quality-wise.

I really hope this won't be a WOW: The Elder Scrolls game. That would really blow.

Also on that source article it appears the Imperials are not a playable race? WTF is up with that?

All that aside this MMO does have great potential. I just hope it lives up to it.

its still very early in development. things may change when it gets closer to release. which is a far way off.

I haven't read into this too much, but from what I heard, it absolutely shits all over the lore, making it completely nonsensical and ruining any linearity that the previous games put in place.

So even that is enough to put me off, irrespective of what the gameplay would be like.

It would be cool if they made a Elder scrolls game that lets you roam the whole of Tamriel. That would be so fucking awesome.

^Shit, that would be really sweet. If they do make the MMO, hopefully the controls are more like elder scrolls and not like most MMOs. One thing that put me off from most MMOs is the controls. I really hate point and click games like Diablo and it seems like a lot of MMOs are like that.

Apparently the whole of Tamriel is roughly 12 million square miles. Could imagine playing across this map?!

The elderscrolls engine and mmo's do not go together.

and if they do do this it better be like eve online. zero rules, do what you want when ever you want to whomever.

actually no this is just a terrible idea. Think about questing and loot, they would have to make an expansion pack every day.

seems really dumb. I'd much rather them just keep doing what they were doing.

Thankfully it is being developed by a differnt team than the single player games so there is no need to worry about the focus being taken away from them.

It seems like a neat idea if it is done right but I am not an MMO person; if it wasn't for the monthly fee then maybe I would try it out.

It'll be a bigger flop than SWTOR.Like 99% of new MMOs, it's just a quick cash-in with a franchise people already know.Online games, however, are still popular for some people who does not like MAC system, that is why some pc mmo games warframe and world of battleships-themed game navy moves have some position in gaming field. To be honest, Baseball Heroes are one of few capturing my eyes on social network sites.

I agree and sadly I fell prey to SWTOR. I was so in love with KOTOR I & II that I didn't even think I just bought the SWTOR CE without a second thought. Spent 1 full year playing that game and smoking tons of pot along the way.

That being said I have high hopes for ESO even though I haven't played Skyrim yet and still currently play Morrowind and Oblivion.

It's not really a 'quick cash-in' though, as the game has been in development for over 6 years.

it's just a long, drawn out cash in

can't believe this thread is a year old and I care less about it then when I first heard of it

^ Do you know how much it costs to develop an MMO? Especially over the course of 6 years?? I'm not saying the game is guaranteed to be good, but Bethesda is taking a pretty big financial risk on the title. I'm very interested to see how it turns out, but given that I hate MMOs in general I won't be affected in the slightest if it ends up being shit.

I would raher the made 1 really good dlc for skyrim.. but that ship has sailed.. too bad
