The Cost of Immigration

p.s. we are less secure now than before.
p.p.s. IS was not a result of opening borders.

Cultural identity is true and valuable, national identity is a fiction and it only protects the wealthy. Knowing the problem is half the battle won, the solution, i agree with you is a very difficult one to fathom. the only part i can envision is where we will need to let go of many resources we take for granted and yet don't need in order to bring on a semblance of social equalibrium. hunger is of paramount import, i would think. it's outrageous anyone goes hungry with our current stupendous surpluss.

it just isn't important enough for many. the blood will stay on our hands for a while yet. but that doesn't make it okay to ignore.

Less secure? Where is the data to substantiate this? I'd say no large-scale attacks since 9/11 shows our foriegn and domestic policy in regards to terrorism is effective.

That second part is just "lol" all over. So basically give up our luxuries and feed everyone in the world. How about impoverished people all over the world stop having birthrates that well eclipse those of Europe. Those of us that are responsible fiscally and in family planning shouldn't have to sacrifice due to the irresponsibility of others.

But before 9/11? Tim McVeigh was 1994 right? Off the top of my head. He was domestic. No big time security was in place then (not like now I mean). Nothing comes close to 9/11 for a single 'Terrorist' attack... And attack, on the US, Pearl Harbor I think is the only close in terms of deaths (can't remember the number).

I agree with you on some things/I get it... But I have to be critical. I feel the same sentiment about birthrates, Etc.

you know, most illegal immigrants are good people
And nobody can argue that they are hard workers (i.e they're taking our jobs for less money= hard worker)
I have no problem with illegal immigrants.

nor have we been attacked by dragons or zebras so our anti-dragon and ant-zebra measures are holding up well too.

thanks, obama!

Yeah if we're in so much danger from terrorism, why have no major attacks gone down in the US since 9/11 which was over a decade ago...
Pretty sure our security is effective.

As poetic as this sounds, it isn't actually true. it is the other way around. minimum wage enables no mobility at all, and only ensures stagnation and ongoing poverty. it only benefits the rich, as it affords them near slave labour. the rich seldom do anything constructive with additional riches. job creation come from product/service demand, not the benevolence of the wealthy. if people are on minimum wage, they cannot afford education and they cannot afford products and services.

Uhh, poverty has only increased while welfare has done the same. You only get move of what you pay for. Min wage only limits employment levels. Poverty comes from inaction.

sorry if it wasn't clear, i really thought it was. you suggested that foreigners criticism is without substance because all sources of information is biased. i pointed out how that is simply incorrect. his criticism of that think tank is of significance, not because of his own bias or lack therof, but because of the existence of plenty of sources which are less biased than a think tank (which is designed to be biased). i made no assessment of foreigners bias whatsoever with my remark.
i hope that clears it up a bit.

I think you missed my point. I don't care about opinions. If the methods of science are not used, it's not science. No matter the criticisms. I won't accept things that are trying to pass themselves off as science if they are not going to at least use the methods that have been established.

US citizens are losing jobs left and right. Why the hell should we be allowing illegal immigrants to stay here when we can't even take care of our own citizens?

they are just as much entitled to employment as we are... They're people too...
Sure and im entitled to any job in any country in the world riiiight.

Again any sane voter will vote for their own interests and whatever gives them likelihood of better life. Mexico has a very harsh immigration policy towards central Americans to protect their jobs yet their government want to offload their poor and destitute and make them Americas problem.

they WANT to be here for better lives, it's not the government. Stop buying into these crazy conspiracy theories

A better life at expense of american jobs better life through Medicaid food stamps sic tanf free public education as most live in apartments and property taxes are levied heavily on homeowners like myself seems like theyre getting alot out of the deal and Americans not so much.

Exactly... They're entitled to employment in their own country, or they can apply and come here legally. It's really not that draconian. I can't go to another foreign country illegally, not bother learning the language and expect a job. What makes anyone else so special? A lot of people see the US as a meal ticket... Come over and get cheap labor and pop out as many kids as they want so they can get welfare while US citizens are the ones to pick up the bill. I don't know how anyone thinks that makes sense.

DO YOU KNOW HOW HARD IT IS to get into this country legally from MEXICO? it's like winning a lottery... So few slots and so so many applicants... you are WAY oversimplifying this... educate yourself

And BTW, many American citizens also "pop out as many kids" so they can collect welfare as well. It's a common practice among all races and ethnicities in the US...
