The Big "I Can't Sleep" Thread - Insomniacs Unite!

a SPECIFIC toxin and process by which is it produced/intaken and by which is may possibly build up?

Okay.

Uric Acid.

Produced as a result of catabolism of some nucelotides. Endogenous metabolic product. Excess uric acid causes gout and is generally harmful. Build up of serum uric acid due to renal impairment and thus failure to excrete it.

Is melatonin going to help it? No. But you wanted one by name and that was the simplest and fastest one to go with.

I mainly just wanted to see if anyone actually knew anything about the toxins, as I think it is a bit silly to be discusses flushing them out if you don't know what they are.

I am aware that there are obviously toxins in our body.

that is a good question on where did i get this information. Here is a study found demonstrating the antioxidant properties of melatonin and how it can mitigate damage caused by free radicals in the body. Increased antioxidant activity allows for the body processes to work more efficiently allowing for increased detoxification.

there is always someone who tries to say that something is "BULLSHIT/ no way that shit works!!!." Maybe if you open your mind a bit, and do some research, you would see the benefits of melatonin for someone with chronic insomnia. I base my conclusion on various empirical studies and what my doctor has told me from years of experience.

I've been on 15 mg midazolam and 25 mg hydroxyzine for 4 years. I slept fine last year, but now and this whole year I go to bed at 12 then wake up 3-5 hours later every night and have difficulty falling back to sleep without taking anotherpill. I was recently prescribed lormetazepam which I take 1mg in conjunction with 15 mg of midazolam but to no improvement. Damn I'd give anything to sleep how I used to 9-10 hours every night consistently. Any input or ideas would be appreciated or even suggestions for a new medication ?

Benzos lose their sleep-promoting abilites after about a month of daily use (considering you don't "up" your dosage). I wouldn't even touch that stuff more than once/twice a month for recreational use, since they're super-addictive and the withdrawal is fucking hell. Even mild withdrawal will have you scared & anxious & panicked all the time.

Why are you prescribed benzos anyway? Are you suffering from anxiety or anything? Don't tell me they prescribed you benzos for sleep disorder :-s

I guess you could do any, if not all of the following things to improve your sleep.

Milk, weed, workout, 5-htp is all that springs to mind atm.

I'd say alcohol too but this is in "Healthy living".

I cant seem to get to sleep until 3-4-5a again :( melatonin, dph, nyquil only work for so long.My doctor doesnt want to put me on sleeping pills because she says im too young (22) and it will fuck me up, but every second night im getting fucked up on cwe'd T1s since if im gonna be up i may as well be high.

I dont even feel 200mg dph and dont want to push it any farther thats just after a few days.

I eat 2-3 lotus seeds before bed and it helps.

The main thing is to have a quiet room. A deep red colour helps with grounding, I find. Make sure there are no electronic sources around your bed because in my experiences these fields affect me even if I'm not directly aware of them. No eating within 2 hours before bed, unless it's a small snack; likewise, not going to bed hungry. Getting enough physical activity during the day so that both my mind and body equally tired. Also, reserving bed JUST for bed. No going on the laptop in bed, no doing homework in bed, no phone chatting in bed - bed is just for sleeping and that's that. The only exception might be a book on my night stand to help my mind wind down before bed.

In my experience treating people, insomnia is usually due to lack of grounding. People have hectic days and then don't wind down properly before bed. Their minds are still in "active" mode and there isn't a transition from active to non-active, so they end up doing all sorts of activities before bed.

Creating bedtime rituals also helps, and sticking to them. i.e. having a bath every night before bed. Whatever ritual you create, consistency is important because your mind/body will form the association with sleep over time.

but every second night im getting fucked up on cwe'd T1s since if im gonna be up i may as well be high.

This is a REALLY BAD idea. This will escalate and ruin your life, and absolutely certainly make your insomnia worse, stop making excuses for your usage and stop now whilst you still can without any withdrawal.

Drugs always fuck your sleeping pattern. Abstain for a month or two and I can guarantee it will improve, might not be perfect but will be far more predictable.

im stopping before i end up WDing, tonight i feel like i might get to sleep early i feel really tired.

You will probably mildly WD from every second night anyway. Go a week minimum without it, try and avoid benzos and opiates completely, they will fuck your life up. The people who say otherwise just haven't been on them long enough, ask anyone who has had either of those drugs in their life for >5 years, I guarantee the overwhelming majority will advise you to never even use them from day one, there might be some exceptions that can use them recreationally after 5 years of use, but do you really want to make that gamble? use them sparingly for their prescribed uses only.

Sorry to preach, but people really need to hear this more often. Best of luck with your insomnia, try getting up early with an alarm so that you are more tired during the day, also try intense exercise, these are the best ways to deal with it, even if you can't solve it.

honestly alot of people hate on seroquel i didnt want to take it at first but if u take a low dose and u have sleeping problems it makes u dream hardcore and have a great sleep cycle!!! It's not for everyone though and doses above 100 mg have a different effect. It is not for everyone but i dont understand why it gets so much hate.....

Hello there. 5:40am here in France. Didn't sleep at all this night. Somehow, high doses of methadone keep me awake and alert.

I take amitryptyline before bed sometimes. Doesn't help too much with going to sleep unless I'm already tired, but it makes it easier to wake up. Blue light therapy in the morning helps my sleep cycle a lot.

One doctor informed me of a use for melatonin I wasn't aware of: he said you can take melatonin 5-6 hours before you want to sleep and it'll work to pull your circadian rhythm back over the course of a few days.
