US Politics the 2025 trump presidency thread

Again, I commend people to read how the Roman Repiblic became an autocracy (commonly known as the Roman Empire since Rome constantly needed to annex lands to provide the income and workers to keep Rome itself wealthy).

The Romans had many systems in place so that no one person could gain complete control. But Julius Ceaser was able to systematically take control of each element one by one.

Donald Trump appointed many judges and now we know why. So he can rule by executive order knowing the judicial branch of government will not stop him.

If I'm honest, I think it's too late. There will be no more elections in the USA.

If one studies the Roman empire (the Mary Beard book SPQR is a very good source), it's interesting to note that the WEAKEST point was when power was transferred from one ceaser to another. Because there was no official way to do so, each one had to wing it. I mean, 55.9% of them were assassinated or murdered.

Mostly it was the pretorian guard with a few notable cases of the senate taking matters into their own hands.

But if Donald Trump begins to clearly annoint one of his sons as the chosen one, try to act surprised.

Gun lobby who absolutely defent the right to bear arms to PREVENT an authortarian government are in truth just another big business and Donald Trump has ensured that big business will be taken care of.

In fact, it's the frankly ridiculous trade war that is most likely to be his downfall. I think it safe to say that NO big business wanted that so they may yet decide he's more of a liability than a benfit. But don't bank on it.

They're not deporting them, they're sending them to a hellhole El Salvadorian prison. (and we are paying El Salvador) Most chillingly, El Salvador has offered to take Americans. Marco Rubio says he's "profoundly grateful" for the offer.

they put their stuff out on youtube, i'm sure other streaming services.

a lot of their online articles, i've noticed, are often just republished a.p. articles but i'm sure you can find trash opinions published there as well... shoot, just look into the comments section of ANY fox news article (or video) for the regurgitated, distilled trash opinions

Now we are talking about sending US citizens there that vandalized teslas while actively pardoning people that attacked the capitol and its guards to try and kill the VP and installing fake electors.

Didn’t take long to start shipping undesirables off to camps.

Didn't FDR do that with the internment camps? That is a pretty sick story. My father told me at that point that was the only action that would quiet people. My wife and I had went to the FDR house and I saw video's as I never knew that history.

I am sickened by anything that treats any human as sub par. Plain and simple. Not a political party thing.
