One day the Democratic Party will eventually and finally grow a pair; figure out that while "When they go low, we go high." makes for a nice principle and sound bite, in real life it just doesn't work; and strike back at the republicans with all the dirty tricks and a reciprocal viciousness to match their own.

When that happens I, for one, will not have forgotten the years between 2016 and 2020. And I will not forget all of the attacks on me and mine that are forthcoming these next four years. When that happens, when the republicans finally get their comeuppance, I will remember all of their glee and gloating and all of the other thousand injuries which I will bear as best I can, when I crack open a bottle of wine and pair it nicely with some free-range schadenfreude.

they forget that some of their own-the-libs, mic drop moments don't just apply to republican politicians and presidents e.g. presidential immunity.

I see this all the time. Trump's biggest draw to his fervent base is that he makes them feel like a "winner". It's never this or that policy that comes first in the conversation, it's, "Na na na, you lose, I win." The whole, "Own the libs" thing you see on social media isn't a byproduct, it's the main product.
A die hard Trumper is often someone who is angry at the world because they wound up making a living performing menial tasks for the kids they picked on in high school. I'm going to get that stitched onto a pillow, I think.
 
I am getting damn high today with friend in solidarity to you folks across the pond. It is equally entertaining and upsetting to watch deep end fascism starting to develop rapidly. Surreal. I am still fighting against fascism and neoliberalism occasionally, but I have accepted we are fuuucked as a civilization. I don't know how this will end but I wish best.

Within ONE day in office, he pulled a ridiculous stunt by unbanning tiktok (a ban HE was enforcing in the first place) to gain popularity with the youth, we had the First Lady Elon Musk doing literal Nazi Salutes at the Inauguration and enacted a ridiculously transphobic bill.
Not to mention the blather about wanting to invade Greenland and Canada.
LOL, btw, that he wants to invade those places but had to move the inauguration indoors because too cold.
And, of course, ripping off his own MAGA cult with many of them spending thousands of dollars to see him and then being unable to.

Let's just cross our fingers, toes, and everything else that the cunt dies before he can do any more harm.

Reversed a Biden executive order which would make drugs cheaper on Medicare and Medicaid, pardoned pretty much *all* the Jan 6 criminals, even ones who were violent and confessed, the list goes on.
 
so much to unpack on the first day... but here is a low-hanging fruit.

trump signed an executive order trying to end birthright citizenship.

the right of birthright citizenship is enshrined in the 14th amendment. regardless of whether you love him or hate him, or who you voted for, i am sure we - including trump-voting patriots - we can come together and condemn this egregious assault on that most fundamental, important of documents, the u.s. constitution.

if he tried to overturn the 1st or 2nd, you'd go crazy, right? this is no different. he's talked in the past about suspending the constitution and now he seeks to dismantle part of it.

i am sure this move will be aggressively challenged.

even his dad came out saying the entire musk family are nazis. Musks grandparents moved from Canada to south africa and were part of the canadian nazi party and loved apartheid so its no surprise that elon musk is a open nazi. He is the most dangerous man in america right now.

80 years we defeated the evil of the nazi regime and now we have NAZI america.

My ancestors were killed in those concentration camps and for him to stand up there and do that salute and people to cheer on is sickening.

Zuckerberg no spine to stand there and cheer on the nazis trump and elon musk complete sell out and bootlicker.

i think there's some truth in that.
