US Politics The 2020 Trump Presidency Thread

I knew they were Americans. I posted an article about it (might not have been in this thread) but yeah the issue wasn't that they were Americans it's that they were brought home with other healthy passengers. And yes I've seen people blaming Trump (maybe not on BL) but of course they're going to blame Trump. Anything bad that happens he's the boss of the country so ultimately his fault even if there are subversives screwing around in order to make him look bad.

Do you have any evidence to back up the suggestion that this was done deliberately to make him look bad?

I really doubt it. It appears to have been an on the ground decision that came up abruptly. Sure, the decision that was made was probably the wrong one, but that's a long way from taking it as a deliberate attempt to hurt trump and I see zero reason to suspect it was.

Not everything is all about trump.

Couldn't decide where to put this - Meme thread? Left-Right-Center thread? I'll just leave it here because I think it says more about him than Warren

From the politico article linked in the tweet

Trump then claimed that "people like a person like me, that is not mean." It was not clear whether he was joking.

Hahaha. That's priceless.

There's something weird about how he said it. Sorta like he was reading from a script but then lost his train of thought. Or was just speaking and got a bit confused about the point he was making and wound up saying something weird. Dunno, clips too short to say much. Just seems a little odd. Like he for a moment he wasn't sure what he was trying to say.

I remember when people were bitching that Obamas campaign kept using his personal campaign logo rather than an American flag.

But at least nobody (I hope) made whole songs worshiping the guy.

It's ironic. It's all dressed up to be so American, but this kinda personal displays of devotion to a single leader seems to me as un-American as it gets.

Still, thanks for that Grimez, this is apparently yet another thing I must have missed in 2016-17 while I was especially busy with being a junkie.

EDIT: rofl, I've been looking at the wiki page..

The USA Freedom Kids' brand has expanded to include merchandise, a ringtone, and registered their trademarked catchword "Ameritude."

I take it all back, there's nothing more American than trademarking "ameritude" :D

Yes I know blah blah the strong economy today is all thanks to Obama (but if the market crashes that's Trump's fault)

For context, Obama's term was during the great financial crisis.

No, the market crashing isn't trumps fault. There's things he's done that haven't helped, but it's not his fault.

But it doesn't really matter practically. People always act like the economy is the sole responsibility of the president of the day. His fault or not, fair or not. This could severely hurt his reelection prospects.

Which makes me happy. :)

Trump is almost definitely winning re-election. So there's no need for you to be happy but I think it's cute that you're still hoping for a miracle.

How are you gonna feel if he really doesn't?

Cause I think that's a real possibility.
I thought it was quite possible for a long time now and Coronavirus has only served to create significantly more uncertainty.

Since he's been unable to fulfill all of his promises, I don't really care. His presidency has just reinforced the power of the shadow government and how little an outsider can really change things. I just hope the next guy also doesn't start any new wars- an achievement that Trump (and no other presidents in recent history) can claim.

Yes Hillary lost, and I'm deff aware of not coming across like those Hillary supporters who were very pompous and sure of themselves back in 2016.

I can see coronavirus possibly affecting the voting process but I don't see Trump losing the election over it. There's quite a bit of time since November though, it should be a very interesting time.

Back to back, even. Yeah you don’t sound condescending 😑.

He might not lose election over it, he might not lose the election over the economic damage caused by it. He might be reelected.

Or he might lose. Coronavirus tanks the economy, there's discontent everywhere, trumps more talk than action and his actions seem to be making things worse. It wouldn't be that shocking to me if he lost either.

My point is just that I think it's kinda foolish to be at all certain of the outcome.

Personally I'd be reluctant to bet on it either way. I can see reasons he might be reelected and reasons he might not.

That was just for Jess she needs her attitude checked sometimes ;) I'm also fairly confident but that's mostly due to the Democrats being so out of touch and incompetent.

Jess: you perceive Trump as far more incompetent than he actually is. I know it'd hard to finally admit that he can actually do the job.

Lulz. No man. What trump has shown me is that the systems actually resistant enough that you could put a 6 year old in charge and with a little luck they can manage not to destroy the country.

Thank God for all the other people. Or to use your term. Thank God for the deep state. Keeping the ship running when the president throws another tantrum. :)

So things were running well during Bush/Obama? Trump not starting a new war is incompetence? Are you hanging out for the next establishment president to come in and start another war?
