It’s now clear that this primary is between you and me. Don’t cowardly hide behind your proxies. Join the race directly.

Tulsi Gabbard is left wing; maybe even far left wing

- $15 minimum wage
- pro-choice first two trimesters
- amnesty / citizenship for illegal immigrants

Her ONLY position that differs from other Democrats is she is anti-regime-change wars.
Democrats are the party of war.

Bloomberg also has not ruled out jumping into the primary -- maybe a clown car with 100 candidates is not out of reach?

Bloomberg won’t run unless Biden drops out, which I don’t think will happen, but who knows? Biden’s fundraising shortfall was significant. (I tend not to think too much about Democratic vs Republican fundraising at this point because there isn’t a single Democratic candidate yet, but Biden is having cash flow issues when he needs a war chest.)

Bloomberg definitely fills the old white guy moderate niche. However, I’m guessing him being Jewish as well as founder and majority owner of the parent company of a international news agency that bears his name will spawn a million conspiracy theories and spark anti-Semitism.

Buttigieg got a boost from the last debate. But will it last?

Here’s where the race stands in Iowa: Former Vice President Joe Biden (19%) leads Massachusetts Sen. Elizabeth Warren (18%), with Buttigieg capturing 13%, Sanders receiving 9%, and billionaire Tom Steyer, Minnesota Sen. Amy Klobuchar, Hawaii Rep. Tulsi Gabbard, and California Sen. Kamala Harris all tied at 3%. A considerable 29% of likely Democratic caucusgoers remain undecided.

The difference between Suffolk/USA TODAY’s summer and fall Iowa polls is more than seasonal: It is a dramatic turnaround for 37-year-old Buttigieg, who more than doubled his second-tier 6% summer standing.
Even more impressive for Buttigieg is how those who watched the CNN/New York Times debate last week would align their support if the caucuses were held today. Among only debate watchers, Buttigieg topped the entire Iowa field with 19%, followed by Biden and Warren (tied at 17%), Sanders (9%), and Klobuchar (6%). Both Buttigieg (39%) and Klobuchar (28%) were seen as debate winners last week.

The dems slipped too far to the left, ironically mirroring the repubs slipping too far to the right. That's why Trump will get re-elected. Too many dem contenders. They're going to split the field into a bunch of shattered glass. I've met too many people who went from Sanders to Trump supporters to think the Dems can solidify their base.

@Captain.Heroin Until there’s a single candidate that Dems do or don’t coalesce around, it’s hard to tell what will happen. I’m guessing everyone will throw their support behind whoever.

And primaries always look more extreme than the actual election. I don’t really put a lot of stock in the current purported platform.

(The meme is funny, but I can’t like Bolton 😝)

Bolton at least has a concise, cohesive plan even if it isn't to your liking and isn't a nazi sympathizer/collaborator piece of shit like Pompeo, spouting his fake faith to try to wrestle a senate seat from a real American with his fat, grimy hands. I'll take a neocon over a far-right collaborator any day IMO.

Bolton's policies were based on reality, at the very least, whereas Pompeo and Trump are playing best friends, getting fake sun tans together, and covering up all the crimes with their pal Giuliani. Bolton saw Giuliani as a liability - which he was and I personally knew would be from day one (because of Giuliani's ties to crime families/past shady dealings that are extensive temporally).

Like, even if I don't like the far-left, Warren has the right idea by crafting out a responsible policy platform, something many other Dem candidates have failed to do so, hence I would be OK with her as president even though she is radically different from my political ideology. She seems more alive mentally/physically than Sanders or Biden (especially the latter over the former!) and is just "right" for the spot. NO ONE on the 2016 Republican primary ticket was a worthwhile candidate, I repeat: NONE OF THEM. There are people with conservative views and actually respect the Constitution, and it's probably not the Tillersons or Pompeos or Giulianis of the world.

Bolton will, at the least, have a career past Trump's failing America when there's perhaps a bipartisan need for different voices or Repubs get a different victory (LOL like that will ever happen after Trump made *almost every* Repub. senator look like they wipe their ass proudly with the Constitution), whereas if Pompeo becomes a senator it would be worse than a McConnell and I'd probably lose my mind completely.

He's been my guy since 2015. He's the only authentic candidate in my eyes. He can't be bought. He doesn't give a shit about the pageantry of it all. He has a message and he believes in it and he won't stop until it's done. It's been his life's work.

I think the ageism is disgusting.

Yes, the ageism is wrong, imo, @mal3volent. If Sanders can keep up with a campaign, he’ll be fine as POTUS. No doubt.

Although I’m more referencing the heart incident specifically rather than age, like a Dick Cheney-type situation (obviously a comparison only with regard to heart health lol, and Cheney’s was really bad), where it’s a concern because he might fall ill/be unable to carry out his duties.

Just to note that it hasn’t changed my good opinion of him, but I’m not sure about the general public... 😕

A good VP pick might assuage some concerns if he’s the candidate or remains a frontrunner. Let’s hope.

If I was forced to pick a candidate to side with thus far it would probably be Tulsi. The LP has some interesting choices but most of them are far too fringe to gain any traction in mainstream politics. The decentralizationist movements is the most intriguing to me. Essentially running candidates on the muncipal level that will nullify federal/state laws, and create more free(er) societies. Nullification efforts have already been underway for quite some time, they just aren't mainstream yet. For example San Francisco has passed city ordinances to outlaw traffic cameras and facial recognition software in police bodycams, Oakland has passed ordinances decriminalizing all psychedelic drugs, several cities have passed sanctuary ordinances to nullify oppressive immigration laws. This is catching on, and what's better is it's all targeted on a local level, so you don't have to put much time and effort into national politics. Hell, if we're successful, and this really catches on, no one will even care who's running for president anymore because they won't have any power.

How interesting that there is a faction pushing so much for smaller government on the Dem side. I wouldn't want the federal government to be totally rendered obsolete, but in terms of how people want to live their lives, I absolutely think localities should have the right to dictate that for themselves. For example, my city would definitely make some changes I would love if we weren't held back by the state and federal levels.

Beto O’Rourke dropped out and Kamala Harris is firing staff/downsizing campaign.

Really should have been the other way around -- at least O'Rourke seemed to have a partial excuse of a faulty civics education for some of the rhetoric he put out . . . Senator Harris knows better than all of the divisive and nasty and authoritarian screeching and that makes it worse.

Good riddance to both Beto "hell yeah we're gonna take ur guns muthafucka!" O'Rourke and Kamala "the cop who would be president" Harris
