what does that have to do with anything?

but according to Republicans, Russia is our ally and is only trying to help and look out for our best interests

You can't openly admit to PUTIN that we are actively economically fucking up their nation and currency, but we are.

Adurr.

But it's OK to say that our efforts here are wasted and would generally be better put towards food, medicine, jobs, saving planet earth...

;)

"SHIFTY SHIFT SAID I SAID SOMETHING I DIDN'T HE JUST TOTALLY MADE IT UP"

wahhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh he used hist 1st amendment rights WAHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH

go live somewhere without 1st amendment rights TRUMPF you trumpFAILURE

p.s. to anyone who shoots Trump on 5th avenue I WILL PAY YOUR LEGAL FEES <3

I suspect getting trumps support is extremely easy. You just gotta suck up to him and tell him how amazing and impressive he is.

Then like all good narcissists, he will probably try and protect that impression by pleasing them.

Which is why I think trump is such a national security risk.

Why can't we? We've been announcing that exact kind of thing pretty much since the beginning of time. We might not boldly say, "We are fucking up your shit because we think your vodka and track suits suck" but "pursuant to the interests of the United States and the global markets we are instituting currency controls designed to fight Russian oppression."

Maybe I'm not understanding your point?

A bit off topic but doesn't Trump have someone to write his speeches? He never comes across as very bright.

This is very true. And as cd indicates, he HAS writers (they all do), but how much they believe in themselves vs trust their writers (and recognize their own weaknesses) varies. Word is, Obama couldn't/wouldn't say things off script from the teleprompter as was written for him; and the few times he did he got blasted for speaking poorly. Trump says 'hold my beer' and ignores the teleprompter or written speech completely.

I think part of it, also, comes down to personal speech patterns - where to pause, for how long, when and how to emphasize a point. I'd bet Obama at least read thru and rehearsed a bit of his written speech. Trump has ALWAYS spoken with the same emotionally prodding, grunt method with repeating a statement he feels conveys a strong point (multiple repetitions, usually) when in fact the words he's chosen don't make sense, or at least don't convey the message the way he hears it in his head. Hell, it's likely he takes a written speech provided him, flips it over and makes a few bullets in Trumpese and sticks to repeating those.

as evidenced by both the American people's opinion (check the polls on impeachment)...
which polls are you reading?

see: Do Americans Support Removing Trump From Office?

crudely put, a majority af americans did not support impeachment initially. that changed when pelosi announced the impeachment enquiry, since when a majority of americans support impeachment.
Democrats as a whole have been attempting to destroy him since he started his campaign run
i don't buy this narrative at all.

the democrats have voted against moving forward with impeachment on not one but three occasions. in december 2017, democrats voted by a large majority not to proceed. again in 2018 (a vote in which over 60% of democrats voted no) and again in july 2019 just days before the zelensky call.

they're not falling over themselves to find anything to impeach him. it wasn't until clear evidence of president trump abusing his power to serve his own interests that it actually happened. at that point he was offered ample opportunity to prove his innocence but he opted to ignore congressional subpoenas and ordered his staff to not cooperate.

That doesn't actually disprove that democrats haven't been just waiting for an opportunity for a long time. All it shows is that until now they didn't think it was worth it.

And frankly. They in hindsight they probably shouldn't acted this time either. Presumably they gambled that the impeachment proceeding itself will hopefully hurt his future election chances.

At the time that might have been a sensible strategy, but I don't think its turned out very well.

I will freely admit I have wanted the guy out of office since he was voted in, but it's because of what I saw during his campaign (in rallies, from what he said and did), and then with what I directly saw/heard of footage of him as president, as well as policy decisions he and his administration made. That doesn't mean anything but that what I have seen the whole time has been very alarming to me. Trump supporters like to say that those who do not support him are brainwashed by the media, but I form my judgements of the man on actual audio/video footage of the man himself, and public domain policy decisions.

Exactly. The worst publicity of trump is what trump himself comes up with. But pro trumpers find that hard to believe because they're hearing the same stuff, only they approve of it.

It really pisses me off when people act like I've been brainwashed by the liberal media... Because the coverage that made me hate trump, is the coverage he fucking puts out their of his own free will.

His Twitter feed alone would make me not like him.

When Native Americans Are Told To ‘Go Back’ To Where They Came From

For a white person — and it’s almost always a white person — to say “go back” to a Native American, whose ancestors were here long before European settlers colonized this continent, betrays the real, white supremacist meaning of the phrase: We don’t want you anywhere at all.

These 22 stories were culled from over 800 reports of hate incidents, occurring over the last four years in the U.S., in which assailants communicated some variation of “go back” to their victims. HuffPost, working with ProPublica’s Documenting Hate project, collected these incidents in a database to examine the moral emergency of hate in the era of President Donald Trump.
...
It’s a striking scene to imagine: a Native American Marine veteran wearing an ankle monitor, awaiting trial for protecting tribal land from the fossil fuel industry, being told to “go home” by white people driving by.
(my emphasis)

i'm not blaming trump for these incidents - obviously the people throwing these insults are to blame. but they clearly feel emboldened by president trump and his divisive and hateful rhetoric is a factor.
