So I wouldn't worry just yet.
There's a lot of militias across the US with stockpiles of guns, ammo that would make heads spin; that do not even compare to drug collections users in America have, but are more akin to the stockpile of drugs cartels have. Some of them are Trump supporting racist/white supremacist/nationalist groups. Others are NOT, and strictly have avowed themselves to protect the constitution at all costs.
The 22nd Amendment is very real and alive, and just as important as the 1st, 2nd, 5th, 10th or any other amendment we have. The suggestion he's just going to go for a 3rd term without encouraging the nation to repeal the 22nd is *ridiculous*. It's shameful. It's likely got a lot of trigger-happy gun-folk talking among themselves.
Most of his crazy shit isn't Constitution breaking.
I think it's incredibly unlikely that he'd be able to pass anything that would allow him to break the 2-term rule. That being said, the fact that he suggested it is problematic as it reveals that he has a desire to break the 2 term limit, which is a worrying sentiment.
He can't! It would have to be the states in a constitutional convention. It'll never happen. They'll never do it.
Any grab at a 3rd term by Trump will be catastrophic. If I had any concentration of wealth I would engineer a lengthy far-away vacation from America during the 2024 elections. This gives me 4 years to escape America or hopefully Trump may change his tune.
Guys, even if I was a Trump supporter and wanted him to have a third term (NO PART OF ME WANTS THIS), I would think he was 100% wrong for even saying those words. If he wants to be president in 2026 he can let Pence as Presdient, he can play Vice President for 4 years, then they can switch back. He can't have his cake, eat it too, with a constitution and an American people who live and breathe it every day. This should scare everyone.
Constitutionally he wouldn't be allowed to do that
+1, thank you, thank GOD you at least get it. Big +1 to you.
Then I suppose we can all take comfort from the fact that the constitution has never been violated by those who've sworn to uphold it.
He's been arguably violating the 10th amendment in specific ways no other president has. It might take a liberal/libertarian lawyer to get it in court just right but he has been.
It's not "100% obvious" to all eyes though. THIS IS. Even JG says he "WOULD NOT BE ALLOWED". The 10th will be interpreted differently by different political ideologues. 100% of us believe in the constitution and term limits as they stand. I've even heard Republicans, TRUMP SUPPORTERS call for TERM LIMITS FOR CONGRESSMEN/SENATORS. They DO NOT want them in office for life. I am sure they are equally shocked by Trump's comments.
