I've avoided you in most of these threads - not because I think you're right or wrong, but the way you communicate doesn't give off the vibe that you want to discuss anything. It's more like you want to take your shots. :meh: Ok.
I will respond to this one, though, because you raise great points. I won't drop down into a line by line back and forth of specific points regarding Obama and Trump - I don't think either of us are well equipped for that, nor would it be very productive. I will state that I don't recall any President prior to Obama making such a divisive "fk you" kind of statement as he did when he indicated "elections have consequences" and other 'I won (shut up and suck it) type comments. Nor do I remember previous Presidents ramming through such drastic policies just because he had the majority to back him. Maybe it's a result of Bush, Clinton and the others having to deal with a more balanced, or opposing, Legislative branch so it wasn't as easy to accomplish for them as it was for Obama. Then again, he got around that. Many times, I watched Obama write executive orders and force his vision into place, and the rest of us had to shut up and take it? FTR, despite how this sounds, I don't hate Obama - my point is that he was the first to be so aggressive with his position. Which brings the counter to Obama of Trump.
Trump has, as you say, been erasing Obama's time in office. What Obama fans fail to realize, is that he set the precedent for being aggressive, using executive orders to force your way, and the general attitude that if you have the power - use it. If you don't have the power, push past the line and see who stops you. While Trump has always been a power tripping asshole, Obama is the one who made the Oval Office a place where you can wield immense power to your whims, something a power tripping asshole like Trump would likely have a hard time resisting. I think you'll fail to find much of Trump's roll backs by executive order, that weren't similar power trips by Obama to create by executive order.
Yeah, Trump's policies will will get undone just like Obama's. And as I mentioned, it's not how your opponent does things, it's how you carry yourself. Obama failed to respect the office and treat it properly, setting the stage for Trump to abuse it even worse. But here's what bothers me - we've seen it in the media and the way Democrats are playing petty political games (ie Kavanaugh); and we've seen it with Obama lowering the Presidential bar and Trump saying 'hold my beer' - what comes next? Regardless of which party takes the Presidency next, or after that one ... are our future Presidents ALL going to be individuals looking to ram thru their vision, undo whatever their predecessor did, and continue to lower the bar, and our respect for, the office of the President? Or can we get someone upstanding enough, level headed enough, to calm the waters and reverse this growing negative trend? I sincerely hope so, but I doubt it.
Go ahead and look forward with anticipation to someone undoing Trump's work. Maybe they restore some Obama policies, maybe they move in a different direction. Ask yourself, though, are rollbacks and 'suck it' type taunting what you're looking for? Or is it for someone willing to actually lead the people in the direction the people want to go? Self serving, or civil servant? I know what I'm hoping for. I'm not seeing anything to support that hope.
