The 2018 Trump Presidency thread

trump stated that judge curiel was incapable of being impartial because he's 'mexican' (which he's not). that is textbook racism.
Even if that comment was intended to offend, Mexican is not a race.
This frustrated comment to an allegedly corrupt judge is the worst thing that I have seen presented as evidence against Trump (and still technically not racism).
Definitively stating that someone is racist based on that one comment is ludicrous.

you keep saying liberals have nothing on trump. i dislike him intensely for a hundred examples of childishness, insults and abuse, blatent, cynical hypocrisy and pants-on-fire lying that make me thoroughly embarrassed he's my president.
I will admit he doesn't always act "presidential" (which is BS anyway imo why admire someone who acts proper yet murders tens of thousands of innocents), but apart from not liking his personality, liberals do indeed have nothing on Trump. I would rather hate my president's personality and have him improve the state of the nation, as opposed to loving my president and have him be a sneaky underhanded scandal-ridden crook.
Just for the sake of comparison, is your final report on Obama that he was a good president you were proud of?

the guy mocks people with disabilities
How is this misrepresentation still being shared around?
He mocked a reporter who happened to be disabled, he did not mock a reporter for being disabled, and the unfortunate hand motion he had previously used multiple times as a generic gesture to mock idiots. Disabled people are not exempt from criticism.

instead of correcting some white woman who claims to be native american he mocks her too, with native americans who have loved this land and country and stood up for both standing right behind him.
Are you talking about Warren? The woman who took a $400K position away from a minority by lying about her heritage? Being mocked with a nickname is getting off lightly. I'm also almost certain that the native americans you speak of found it funny (they were chuckling). Not everyone is offended by everything and some people do have a sense of humor. Does Trump love trolling people? Yes. Should the POTUS be trolling people? Probably not. Is that evidence of racism or being an evil person that must be impeached at all costs? No.

Even if that comment was intended to offend, Mexican is not a race.
that's such a weak dodge. so let's agree he's not racist - he's just an unbearable bigot?

trump has german heritage - why has he refused to recuse himself from all matters associated with germany. he can't be objective, right?

...but apart from not liking his personality, liberals do indeed have nothing on Trump.
there's so much more to it that disliking his personality. i despise his blatent hypocrisy and lies. i despise his actions on taxes and healthcare. i despise his decision on transgender troops. i despise his childish attacks on the free press. i despise his action on the tpp. i despise his withdrawing the u.s. from the paris accord. i despise his immature, knee-jerk tweets. i despise his endorsement of roy moore and his pardon of joe arpaio. i despise his b.s. lies about people cheering when the world trade center fell.

Just for the sake of comparison, is your final report on Obama that he was a good president you were proud of?
obama did a number of things that disappointed me but, yes, i am proud of him. i think he carried himself with dignity, diplomacy and gravitas.

How is this misrepresentation still being shared around?
He mocked a reporter who happened to be disabled, he did not mock a reporter for being disabled, and the unfortunate hand motion...
unfortunate hand gesture? to me, there was more to it than that:

you and i obviously see something different when we view that.

alasdair

The word game amazes me. Okay, you can definitely be bigoted towards Mexicans. Which trump rather plainly is to anyone with the vaguest language skills. In truth being bigoted is more to do with actions and behaviour than blatantly saying "I hate Mexicans".

that's such a weak dodge. so let's agree he's not racist - he's just an unbearable bigot?
What's weak are these accusations of racism against him. So the most egregious act was not actually racism it was now bigotry.
Or it was none of those and simply a tasteless insult. One's offence-meter has to be pretty low for this one to register as demonize-worthy.

there's so much more to it that disliking his personality. i despise his blatent hypocrisy and lies. i despise his actions on taxes and healthcare. i despise his decision on transgender troops. i despise his childish attacks on the free press. i despise his action on the tpp. i despise his withdrawing the u.s. from the paris accord. i despise his immature, knee-jerk tweets. i despise his endorsement of roy moore and his pardon of joe arpaio. i despise his b.s. lies about people cheering when the world trade center fell.
You claim Obama carried himself with dignity yet he also lied a LOT, often about extremely serious shit (hypocrisy). Lower taxes and more money in pockets does suck for the DNC's votes. Taxpayers shouldn't have to pay for gender reassignment surgery. "free press" started the childish attacks. TPP & Paris were both extremely bad deals for the US. Maybe there is more to his tweets than you realize (it's also his direct and unfiltered public comm). Roy Moore's accusers came out weeks before an election and we haven't heard a peep since, was he charged with anything? And people did cheer when the WTC fell, except it was a small group of Israelis who had set up, celebrated, took pictures, were arrested, quietly released and then later appeared on an Israeli talk show where they stated that their goal "was to document the event".

obama did a number of things that disappointed me but, yes, i am proud of him. i think he carried himself with dignity, diplomacy and gravitas.
If a child trafficker carries himself with dignity, diplomacy and gravitas should we still be proud of him?
Lying to the public about felony emails?
Using the email service himself?
Flying $250billion cash to Iran without Congressional approval?

unfortunate hand gesture? to me, there was more to it than that:
you and i obviously see something different when we view that.
View this, and then hopefully stop repeating this nonsense lie over and over. You have a problem with liars, yes?

Did Trump really mock reporter's disability?

I?ve spent my adult life aggressively challenging positions these presidents have taken. But I have no doubt that every action they took was intended to strengthen America, protect the homeland and preserve the Constitution. Sadly, that is not so with DJT.

Defeat of ISIS, burdensome regulatory relief, border integrity, census integrity, denuclearization of the Korean Peninsula, immigration sanctity, tax relief, lowest unemployment in years, record black employment, strengthened military, sensible trade agreements. You?re an idiot.

James Woods, Roseanne and now Kanye are the only huge names that aren't too scared to tell the public what they feel is the truth.

They and a few others will be considered heroes in the future.

And feel free to dispute his factually-based opinion

As i've sad many times, defending trump is to defend he indefensible. He's objectively shit at his job, and shit at being a human being.
A bigoted, philandering dirty old man. Alleged money launderer. Alleged rapist. A racist asshole.

Hence the lies. Show me a trumper and i'll show you a bullshit artist.

Lol tho - rosanne and kanye!? Desperate much?

Bono should refuse George W Bush award and apologize to Donald Trump

George Bush recently announced he was going to honor Bono with the first George W. Bush Medal of Distinguished Leadership for his humanitarian work in Africa.

?Bono?s passion for ending poverty and disease is the real deal. He uses his celebrity not for personal gain, but to improve and save lives,? Bush said in a written statement.

The mutual admiration society was evident. Bono said: ?More than 11 million people are alive today thanks to this man?s (George W. Bush) creation of PEPFAR, the U.S. AIDS program that has been saving lives and preventing new HIV infections for over 10 years, with strong support from political leaders right, left, and center.?

At the same time Bono went ballistic in ?Rolling Stone? slamming President Donald Trump saying the ?moral arc? of the universe had been disturbed by him since he was elected.

Bono said: ?For the first time in many years, maybe in our lifetime, the moral arc of the universe, as Dr. King used to call it, was not bending in the direction of fairness, equality and justice for all.

The baseness of political debate, the jingoism, the atavistic fervor of Trump's verbiage reminded us that we were dreaming if we thought evolution applied to consciousness. Democracy is a blip in history and it requires a lot of focus and concentration to keep it intact.

Bono is one of those people thats loved or hated and has a big heart.

Despite being short and nothing like sj except can play guitar, he reminds me of sj (sorry dude).

Trump appears to be not continuing the ongoing fight against AIDS.

Is this true? Not a problem anymore?

Sorry, Bono. If anyone bent the moral arc it was Bush and his unwarranted war on Iraq that has left up to 500,000 dead and millions injured and a country and region devastated.

Trump never sent the country to war as Bush did in Iraq under false circumstances. He and sidekick Dick Cheney ginned up a war that cost up to 500,000 lives, created ISIS, cost thousands of American lives and trillions of dollars and made the world an immeasurably more dangerous place.

Donald Trump has done nothing of the sort. His only foreign intervention so far was to lob a missile at the despot Assad in Syria to get him to stop using poison gas bombs on children and civilians.

Yet it is Trump who disturbed the moral arc according to Bono?

Accepting an award from Bush is not Bono's finest hour irrespective of the former president?s work on AIDS. Coupling that with a slashing attack on Trump who has not committed any acts of war whatever is doubly hypocritical.

We may not like what Trump says or his doctrine, but it is a long way from starting a war against a dictator who did not have chemical weapons and had no connection to 9/11 hijackers. (That was Saudi Arabia, remember.)

Sure, Bush might be a good guy to drink a pint with, but his Iraq war record marks him down as an American president with innocent blood on his hands and thousands of needlessly dead Americans as well.

So, get real Bono. We may not like Trump?s rhetoric, but he is not embroiling us in fake wars with dreadful consequences like Bush did.

You should refuse the reward. And place the blame for the arc of moral justice going astray where it belongs ? with your best buddy in Texas.

You know you are contributing to the Zeitgeist notion that maybe Bush wasn?t so bad after all. Just visit a Veteran Administration hospital and ask a few Iraqi war vets.

This seems like a pro Trump opinion piece but thought some other people who have a voice, that put back in to the world without the need for attention- would be if more importance than those celebrities who are just attention whores.

I've never been compared to Bono before.

Sonny Bono, sure.

Sonny+Bono+sonny.jpg

...but he was a right wing republican too.

Seriously mate get over it. You're the bullshit artist here. You just straight deny anything positive that has happened since his inauguration. You're just discrediting yourself. I understand this is a place for you to vent your frustrations but how about you don't call all Trump supporters liars or racists. Am I allowed to call all leftists stupid and triggered?

What's positive about the shambolic trump administration?

I'm yet to come across a trump fan online who has any interest in debating in good faith - present company included.

"Venting frustrations" - no, just calling it as i see it - and what i see is a big ugly mess.

America has had some bad presidents, but trump takes the cake (and millions in public funds).
He's a total fraud.
I'm sorry if you don't like me pointing that out, but it's my strongly-held position.

Please debate any of the points i've made, but i wonder if you can support him without insulting everyone's intelligence? I mean, debunk away - but try not to bullshit me, ok?

This is a projection. You are the one unwilling to discuss or compromise.
You've made up your mind. Everyone who disagrees is the enemy.
Proof: I criticize Trump constantly. But I don't think that you could ever bring yourself to admit that something positive has happened as the result of Donald Trump's actions.

Are you serious? Talk about hypocrisy. I am ridiculously polite compared to yourself. But I will do my best to debate your points, in the rare event that you do make one that isn't just ignorant derision.

Oi u 2 take it easy
ok

It's true - i'm not willing to compromise with fascists. And that's what trump is. A bully, a crook, a lying bastard.

I don't really see anything positive about this situation, to be completely frank.

Sure, i have strong opinions - but i don't think there's anything wrong with standing firm againt anti-democratic scumlords like donald trump.
No apologies - i hope to see your president in shackles.

If trump was brighter, more competant and less nuts, he'd be really dangerous.
But that doesn't mean he isn't dangerous.

But he'd be a lot more of a threat to democracy if he wasn't as politically impotent as he is.
Obviously, it's not ideal having an unbalanced narcisstistic ignoramus as commander in chief either, but you have to count your blessings sometimes.
