Paul Manafort protege Rick Gates flips on his old boss in federal money laundering trial, admits to committing crimes with Trump campaign adviser

LOCK HIM UP

Manafort's definitely serving time.

Sad to see Hollywood Blvd. torn up, but I understand the sentiment behind the action.

Just saw on MSNBC that Trump's not getting his star back due to repeated vandalism.

I had news coverage of the trial on in the background while I was working yesterday and these people have no scruples whatsoever. Gates admitting that he helped Manafort commit crimes, but then admitting he stole several hundred thousand dollars from Manafort. It's tragicomic.

EDIT: Surprise, surprise, another Trump cabinet official turns out to be a grifter:

A multimillion-dollar lawsuit has been quietly making its way through the New York State court system over the last three years, pitting a private equity manager named David Storper against his former boss: Secretary of Commerce Wilbur Ross. The pair worked side by side for more than a decade, eventually at the firm, WL Ross & Co.—where, Storper later alleged, Ross stole his interests in a private equity fund, transferred them to himself, then tried to cover it up with bogus paperwork. Two weeks ago, just before the start of a trial with $4 million on the line, Ross and Storper agreed to a confidential settlement, whose existence has never been reported and whose terms remain secret.

And so the house of cards continues to crumble...

"But Trump didn't KNOW that all his cabinet members were crooked!! He's SO smart, but they fooled him, every one of them!"

Not just a grifter but THE Grifter. A combined 120 million...
On a different note, I’m a bit worried about the judge residing over Manafort’s case, blatantly biased against the prosecution and interrupting their line of questioning at every turn. The jury may make the verdict but the judge decides the sentence. Is it possible that even with a guilty verdict that the judge is able to go easy enough on the defendant that he does not feel the pressure to flip? I was never well versed in this BS until trump took office so hopefully the thought is just paranoid naivety.

So Melania Trump’s parents were sworn in as US citizens today. They most likely obtained their legal status through family reunification otherwise know as fucking CHAIN IMMIGRATION. Ending this process is supposed to be one of the four pillars of trump’s immigration reform. Hypocrisy at its finest.

Hypocrisy and nepotism. And people voted for this. :|

Hypocrisy and nepotism occur with every government, no matter what party is in control.

People accept this shit because they are stupid, greedy or both.

You're right, but here one of the issues is Trump's own hardline approach to immigration. Seems convenient that this approach hasn't effected him or his family in the slightest.

No leader of a western democratic nation comes close to how corrupt and nepotistic trump is.

Sure, corruption exists, but trump takes it to a level only seen in authoritarian rule - but it's coming unstuck for trump.

Increasingly I feel like at some point, the US government, the executive under trump anyway, stopped being part of "the west" politically. What with all his hostility towards our allies and friendly comments towards countries traditionally considered our enemies. It's easy to feel like we've some how wound up on the wrong side.

Were supposed to be on the side of NATO yes? The five eyes countrys, the "west". How did we wind up with this? Sure it wasn't perfect, but at least I knew what side I was on :(. Or rather, what side my side was on.

Yes, under trump, the USA has ceased being a functioning democracy.
Trump is a highly dysfunctional wannbe despot. The only savimg grace is that he's too mentally ill and unintelligent to know how to do that - he's a fucking idiot. But he has some pretty dusturbing fascists in his ear at all times.
