THC water extraction

My friend relayed this message from his friend to me

"From my understanding THCA is water soluble, so one could extract it just with water. If that water was then heated to the decarboxylation temperature of THCA it should then be converted into THC. THC is insoluble in water so if you allowed it to sit the THC should sink to the bottom of the water. Then the water could be removed leaving behind a highly potent orally active extract without the need of any expensive solvents. Everything extracted would be water soluble so the final anhydrous product should be nearly pure cannabinoids."

I have a feeling that for some reason this would not work but can't think of any reason, do you think this would work?

Wow, this actually sounds perfect. I definitely don't have any knowledge on this subject though so I can't tell you if it would work. I'm not sure why someone wouldnt have thought of this already though.

According to the Wikipedia page for THCA it is only present in very minimal amounts in dried cannabis as it rapidly decarboxylates on its own from the drying of the plant. So unless you had access to freshly harvested plants it would probably be a waste of weed imo. Even if you did have access to fresh plants I couldn't find how much THCA exists in the cannabis before its dried, Wikipedia said "variable amounts" which leads me to believe it isn't a whole lot to begin with but that's just a guess. Only way to find out though, unless a subsequent poster provides an answer, is to try it yourself. Personally I probably still wouldn't try it unless I had a giant crop growing in my basement and could afford to experiment. Also I don't think the other methods of extracting THC are that hard/expensive anyway, it's fairly easy to make an ethanol tincture or do a lipid extraction imo but hey what ever floats your boat. If you do end up trying it let us know how it goes.
