That sinking feeling of heroin

I stopped about ten days ago. I've only smoked it. It's an ugly drug, makes you do ugly things and become an ugly person...
And yet, I miss it. I just want to melt back into the high. I'm in a lot of pain because I was just diagnosed with herpes- it's excruciating and I feel like I've lost part of my sexuality. I'm doing all the right things but I've slipped into craving mode. It would so help relax and numb me. How do you get through this?

no easy way just stay mad at heroin and mad at your heroin you. and remember how great your sober you used to be before it all began.

Wanting to use when you are upset is something that you really want to pay attention to. Try to learn to deal with your fears and anxiety in new ways because if you are really serious about quitting you will need to know how to do this without a temporary escape. Herpes is very controlled by medication these days. Have you been to a doctor? I know that it is really hard to adjust to finding this out and I don't want to diminish the sense of loss you feel. Just know that there are treatments out there to manage it.<3

I am so sorry to hear about this.

There are a lot of people who go through intense cravings upon quitting - know that you aren't alone there. Talking to other people who are going through cravings and are doing their best to resist the temptation can really help.

I was craving it for months after quitting, but eventually it subsided and I realized how much happier I was without using heroin at all. :)

Feel free to PM me if you ever want to.

Talk to someone who has been where you are. Find a former junkie who has a few years under his/her belt, and ask them what they did to stay clean. The first 30 days are a bitch, but once you get over that hump, it starts getting easier.
