Test your vocabulary

100% honest and scored 24,400. Don't know if it's good bad or indifferent as there is no scale there. It was rad though.

Also took the SAT Vocab test and scored 83/100.

I love puttin the old noggan to use.

they spelled leitmotif leitmotiv. Why would they do that? Leitmotif is the English spelling and leitmotiv is German.

I got about 30,000 words...I don't think this is very reliable, since you have some variety when you ask people to rate themselves, but it's still interesting nonetheless.

I think I got just over 25000. I'm ok with this. It would be nice to know more, but a lot of the words in the test aren't things you would see in any book that I would ever read, and I'm not just reading "pop" books either. All of the significant books from significant authors (mostly scifi and fantasy, mind you) that I've read would never use a word like "imbroglio".

I wonder where someone is supposed to learn more than that without reading older "pieces of literature" as a hobby.

i play scrabble so i learn lots of "odd" words as a way to get rid of letters or get lots of points. it also amuses me to open up a dictionary and learn new words.

I got 32,600 words and I'm in my early-mid 20s.

Keep in mind, I also force myself to learn at least two new words each day, study linguistics, know English grammar very well, and am well-versed in Spanish and Japanese.

And I was honest on the test. ;)
