I've cut back on my coffee consumption and I never drink it after 5pm anymore. I'm down to about 14 cups a day, whereas I used to drink 20 to 30 cups daily.

Yeah it's vaguely calming in the background of my cognition.
Can you just take an l-theanine supplement instead for equivalent benefits?

Taste wise, you mean?
Instant has less caffeine.
Also, it is an abomination.
It's really only health related like use of sulphites as preservatives etc. that I'd be concerned with.

Can back this up + besides the high Caffeine in Matcha. It has no negative effect on Raynaud.
There is approximately 95 mg of caffeine in an average 12 oz cup of coffee and 29 mg of caffeine in an average cup of black tea. A cup of matcha tea, however can approach that of coffee. I prefer coffee however that is by palate and not effect. In my experience the caffeine effect is equivalent if equal in total intake.
Coffee exacerbates Raynoud, didn t know till i stopped and switched to Matcha.
Which doesn t apparently, and is way healthier anyway. Coffee imo is just more addicting,
then that the taste mattter s. Mate is also loaded with Caffeine as well Guarana. All miss the Coffee effect

Instant coffee is a crime against nature.

Am I correct in saying Matcha is just pulverized/powdered green tea?

About, it are the youngest leaves they pic, grown special in the shade to higher the Chlorophyll content, or maybe a other reason. So Pure fine grounded essentially White Tea. Only thing that don t relate to real Matcha is "just pulverized/powdered green tea"
Am I correct in saying Matcha is? is just pulverized/powdered green tea?
Its not, as Green tea is steamed and fermented, if i am right. Matcha is raw & HQ.
Its not like, then i can just as well pulverise my Green tea.
The young leaves also sold as tea, they call White tea,
instead of young Green tea leaves. Is the basis for Matcha.

Coffee started messing with me in 1000 ways ~ now I just take 400 mg caffeine in the morning ~ I get the 500 count bottle of 200 mg pills at Amazon and take two pills in the morning ~ I quit with the coffee ~ I just ordered a pound of Brigham Tea Powder from nuvalenz.com but I don't know if it does anything for me ~ I still take the caffeine but I drink a tablespoon of the powder for the hell of it

Making it about as expensive as Matcha, which is superior.
Nothing healthy about Caffeine pills, and i doubt in Coffee.
Imo Coffee being healthy is pure propaganda.
Its burned, contain s PAHs. Probably pesticides and artificially fertilised.
Matcha is healthy, a bit like White tea times 10/ 20 or more.
Caffeine that lack s side effect s. l-Theanine, Chlorophyl, EGCG.
Flavonoiden, Catechinen, Vitamines, minerals and trace element s.

I use this model:
It's lasted me over 10 years so far. Boil the water in the kettle first to save time though.

"By the end of the study period, the authors found that unfiltered coffee caused an increased likelihood of heart disease and stroke compared to filtered coffee. They claim that unfiltered coffee contains about 30 percent more cholesterol-raising compounds including kahweol and cafestol than filtered varieties. Because this type of coffee isn’t filtered, these compounds remain in the brew and could lead to stroke and health disease with regular consumption. Thankfully, the study authors offer a simple suggestion for us coffee drinkers to safely sip this yummy brew."
https://www.firstforwomen.com/health/health-risks-of-drinking-unfiltered-coffee
"A study published online April 22, 2020, by the European Journal of Preventive Cardiology found that filtering coffee (for example, with a paper filter) — not just boiling ground coffee beans and drinking the water — was better for health, particularly for older people. Researchers analyzed the survey responses of more than 500,000 healthy coffee drinkers (ages 20 to 79) who were followed for about 20 years. People younger than 60 who drank one to four cups of coffee, particularly filtered coffee, had lower rates of artery disease and death. The lower rate of death with filtered coffee drinkers persisted in people ages 60 or older, but was lost in people who drank five or more cups per day. The study is observational and doesn't prove that filtered coffee is healthier than unfiltered coffee, but it makes sense. Unfiltered coffee contains diterpenes, compounds that can raise cholesterol, and researchers say a cup of unfiltered coffee contains 30 times more diterpenes than a cup of filtered coffee. So use that coffee filter, save the French press or Turkish unfiltered coffee for rare occasions, and consider limiting your coffee intake to less than five cups per day, on average."

I'll have like 3-4 shots of espresso, maybe 5-6 MAX and always before 2pm
I can't even imagine drinking 14 cups of coffee, I'd be too jittery and anxious to function

while it is generally unrealistic, maintaining regimen of >1 g of caffeine/day, one should be cautious of theophylline poisoning symptoms :D

I have a high tolerance, I guess. I've worked in restaurants most of my life, so there's always an abundance of fresh free coffee available.

Perhaps caffeine as a stimulant isn't dissimilar?
Caffeine is more than just a typical stimulant.
Coffee is a potent metabolic stimulator and must be viewed as such.
The caffeine in coffee is powerful and can act like thyroid (T3) to increase your metabolic rate and the oxidation of sugar, making it a health-protective food.
https://www.functionalps.com/blog/2...-right-tips-to-help-avoid-coffee-intolerance/
Self Awareness
Symptoms to expect when you do coffee right are calmness, focus, motivation, warmth, and stable energy. Coffee done wrong leads to anxiety, shakiness, sweating, feeling wired, inability to focus, and sometimes cold extremities. Truthfully there is no right or wrong because whether you react well or not, the situation serves as a learning tool if you’re knowledgeable and aware enough to assess and correct the symptoms.
If you do get unfriendly symptoms from using coffee, ... correct by eating or drinking something sweet like orange juice, honey, a ripe fruit, ice cream, or sweetened milk. This action will lower the symptom-producing substances (cortisol, adrenaline) by raising the blood sugar.
Metabolic context - caffeine boosts mitochondria which generate ATP (from glucose) and all hormones (from cholesterol). Progesterone is probably the most potent endogenous GABA-A PAM.

Coffee has resveratrol which is great for heart. That much I know.
Caffeine: A vitamin-like nutrient, or adaptogen
From https://raypeat.com/articles/articles/caffeine.shtml
Coffee drinkers have a lower incidence of thyroid disease, including cancer, thannon-drinkers.
Caffeine protects the liver from alcohol and acetaminophen (Tylenol) and other toxins, and coffee drinkers are less likely than people who don’t use coffee to have elevated serum enzymes and other indications of liver damage.
Caffeine protects against cancer caused by radiation, chemical carcinogens, viruses, and estrogens.
Caffeine synergizes with progesterone, and increases its concentration in blood and tissues.
Cystic breast disease is not caused by caffeine, in fact caffeine’s effects are likely to be protective; a variety of studies show that coffee, tea, and caffeine are protective against breast cancer.
Coffee provides very significant quantities of magnesium, as well as other nutrients including vitamin B1.
Caffeine “improves efficiency of fuel use” and performance: JC Wagner 1989.
Coffee drinkers have a low incidence of suicide.
Caffeine supports serotonin uptake in nerves, and inhibits blood platelet aggregation.
Coffee drinkers have been found to have lower cadmium in tissues; coffee making removes heavy metals from water.
Coffee inhibits iron absorption if taken with meals, helping to prevent iron overload.
Caffeine, like niacin, inhibits apoptosis, protecting against stress-induced cell death, without interfering with normal cell turnover.
Caffeine can prevent nerve cell death.
Coffee (or caffeine) prevents Parkinson’s Disease (Ross, et al., 2000).
The prenatal growth retardation that can be caused by feeding large amounts of caffeine is prevented by supplementing the diet with sugar.
Caffeine stops production of free radicals by inhibiting xanthine oxidase, an important factor in tissue stress.
