Tachyphylaxis is where a class of drug just stops working. Its pretty common with SSRIs and other serotonergic antidepressants. Its happened me with multiple classes of drugs despite not using them for that long. For me, its not a permanent thing though, I just need to wait at least 7 days between each dose of the drug thats taxed out on me. It happened me with GHB (this includes phenibut and baclofen), opioids (thats really unusual, I've only found a couple of reports of this googling), trazodone (a 5-HT2 antagonist) and mirtazapine (this includes TCAs and 1st gen antihistamines). It would be nice if this bullshit never happened, but I don't care too much that it did. All this happened over a 5 year period of polydrugging like a madman. I think it was trazodone that started this trend of drugs "pooping out" (thats what they call it) on me so if you're a polydrugger, I'd stay the fuck away from trazodone, mirtazapine, SSRIs and any of these serotonin blocking antidepressant type drugs. What happens with me is if I use the drug for more than 1 day per week or so, the second day I use it I get harsh negative effects with no positive effects and I can get withdrawals that last for up to 3 weeks even if I only used the substance for 2 days (this happened me with phenibut, with opioids the worst I've got is 1 week but I don't make the mistake of doing it anymore).

Does anyone else here have this issue? If so, have you experimented with ways to reverse it?

Thsnk you for sharing frogwarrior. I have never experienced tachyphylaxis but ive read that intranasal decongestants might be if help such as oxymetazoline. Have you tried doing this?
