***Supplements & Herbs Questions and Answers***

I know where ya comming from mgmt, I've only brought little bottles cause I wanted to try each one seperatly to see if i could feel any difference. So far i have felt a difference with each one I've tried so next time I'll look at things like what you mentioned, fish oil with Vit E and complex B with ALA & Coq10 etc...
When i get the 5HTP I'll post up how I find it.
Thanks for all of you help again guys and girls.:)

CoQ10 is good stuff but on the economics vs benefits I'd forgo Q10 a lot of times on the price consideration. Q10 ought be consumed with a meal with at least some fats in it for the purpose of absorption. ALA spares Q10, vitamin E, vitamin C, and other antioxidants so whenever I can afford Q10 I make sure I'm doing ALA as well. Medical literature about Q10 is mostly about heart health.

If your gums are receding or have any problems at all I've had quite a few ppl comment that the most noticeable Q10 benefit was better gum health.

haha yeah thats a good idea, and remember to take the 5htp on an empty stomach and with some green tea

in other news, i cant do any serotogenic-drugs for the next few months because im gonna be on SSRI's. so i think ill be more into adderall kinda amps. whats the most potent antioxidant you guys can think of for an amp user?

i feel like just 2g of vitamin C/day and maybe a mag/cal supplement would be good but i wanna hear what u guys think.

I know whatcha saying about price, I got these ones because they were on special going st 1/2 price but there was some there going for an astronomical price.
When take Q10, I take it with everything else E,B complex,D,fish oil,ALA.

With the Alpha Lipoic Acid since I have been taking I have felt a huge difference, I have felt more alert, awake and energetic. I love the stuff.
Also I got the 5-HTP today but I honestly think I don't need it. When I first ordered it I felt a bit down but ATM I feel so happy and positive I think it might do more harm than good.

Thanks :)

well thats good:D im glad to hear that. would you recommend the ALA?

At the moment I would highly recommend it. I don't know if it's been a coincident from a change in diet but since I started taking I have felt more alert mentally and have a longer concentration span. Just feel more happy, more alive. I even don't feel like a beer or anything opiate related.
Like as I said, this all might be a coincident but it strange that my mood and stuff changed 2 days after taking it.
I take 200mg (1 capsule) 3 times a day with food.
All I can say is give it a shot if you can

Edit: I should of mentioned what you did below. Make sure it doesn't interact with any medication/drugs your taking.

L-Tyrosine

Hey everyone!

I got some L-Tyrosine and was wondering first off, how does this compare to L-Dopa? I'm guessing this one makes dopamine, but the other one is dopamine and crosses the BBB? Or are they the same?

My next question is what do I need to take with this to make it effective? The bottle suggest Phenylalanine and L carnitine.

Is that combo any good? I also read that L-Tyrosine or L Dopa, deplete your serotonin?

Thanks:)

tyrosine is converted to dopamine, norepinephrine (noradrenaline), and epinephrine(adrenaline). The thyroid hormones triiodothyronine (T3) and thyroxine (T4) in the colloid of the thyroid also are derived from tyrosine.

they can both cross the BBB. you'll wanna take it with your B vitamins, that'll help your body convert the tyrosine into other neurotransmitters. specifically vitamin B6

Phenylalanine is just a precursor for tyrosine. you can combine em if you want but i'd just take more tyrosine. plus some people's bodys' cant breakdown phenylanine (phenylketonuria) and it causes mental retardation.

l-carnitine is a non-essential amino acid that facilitates the metabolism of fatty acids. (helps give you more energy:)) so the only reason i'd use tyrosine + carnitine would be like post-amphetamine use to help make me less lethargic haha.

what are you taking it for?

taking a single amino acid supplement will mess with your neurotransmitter levels beause it they all compete for a spot in your brain, and supplementing tyrosine is gonna increase its' levels which will decrease other amino acids like tryptophan (serotonin)

HAH this is arguabley my smartest post in HL =D

So if I do decide to take it then, I would need to combine it with 5htp right? I just wanted to have somthing around that promotes well being.

It also sounds like it would work quite well after amphetamines, which I dont really take anymore.

I just wanted a natural combo that I could take whenever and boost my dopamine levels. Not like everyday. I just figured if I supplimented with it, I would feel really Really good when I got a buzz because of all the extra dopamine.

^^nah it doesnt work like that. i know from experience.

exersize increases dopamine production so if you want a boost why not just go for a run or hit the gym?:)

on another note: im done spending all of my $ on supplements -.- ill just be sticking with vitaminC for obvious reasons and a B-complex for ma brainz.

actually i just went out and bought some pantothenic acid (b5) for acne/adrenal support since imma be using more amphs this summer =D

if that doesnt work for acne ill try niacin.

What supplements can keep me awake without inducing anxiety or appetite suppression?

I've never been a morning person, nor have I ever been a fan of uppers. I just got an internship that requires me to work 9-5 though. I haven't woken that early since high school, as I've scheduled mostly afternoon classes through college. When I get up too early (before 11am) I have a hard time staying awake. In fact I've had teachers call me out on it. I don't want to lose this internship because of it.

I also have anxiety and I'm working out and eating more to try to gain weight, so I don't want to take anything amphetamine-related. Does anybody know if the chemicals in 5 hour energy other than caffeine have any use and are sold in bulk individually? Any other ideas?

^ Merged with mega.

Having had the same thing happen to me (only get rid of "internship" and replace it with "job"), so I'd suggest getting into a good routine of going to bed at a set time (need to be there by 9, assuming up at 8, 11 or 12 the night before isn't too early to hit the hay :P) and waking up at a set time.

It may take you a couple weeks to get used to this routine, but if you stick with it, you'll eventually find yourself waking up around the time when your alarm clock goes off even on days off when the alarm's not set.

But, alas, you're looking for supplements... 8)

DOES ANY1 KNOW which SUPPLEMENTS/vitamins to include that work for staying asleep after falling asleep? Melatonin/5htp/tryptaphan DOESNT WORK. ^_^_^_^_^_^_^_^!

(p.s.- im not tryna get addicted to ambien or anything like that)
I just bought magnesium but it doesn't make me TIRED. I'm hoping it somehow helps some way though after a month of daily usage.

edit: i might be deficient in it, thats why i bought it. After taking MDMA I used to have crazy muscle twitches while tryna fall asleep, and after taking adderall my hearing got SUPER sensitive to the slightest crack in the walls. For this, I think I might have a deficiency. -_#

^ Moved to the Supplement Q&A thread. Might want to consider using the search engine though--There are many threads on sleep hygiene.

this is the best advice imo. just go to bed earlier. i dont think theres really a supplement thats gonna achieve what your looking for:\
