So I successfully relocated 9 hours from home with my girlfriend! I feel very proud for only being 19... Just would like to hear from others who have done it. It does kinda suck not really having friends anymore.. Haha. It's just all so strange from living at home to paying rent and for all the stuff that comes with moving out.

Well that's exciting! Congrats :)
I have never moved that far away, and never moved away from my home to live with anyone. I moved out to university at 17 and had to deal with all that stuff (rent, etc.) pretty early on. I moved from university into a different city (further from my parents) just because I needed a place to live and that was where I thought I'd like to be... turned out well since I got a job there a couple months later. Then my boyfriend moved into that city about a year later.

Nine hours seems quite far away. I am sure you will make friends in time :)

I much prefer living far away from my parents and looking after things myself. I mean, when I was with my parents, they had rules. Now I run on my own time, I play by my rules, etc. I have a job that I enjoy so I never have to worry about regular things like rent, etc. (I mean... I don't make a ton... but enough to look after myself). It's nice to not have to rely on parents or anyone else really :)

Well.... enjoy it!!

I agree it is really nice! I'm still in the same state though(guess that kinda narrows it down to what state i'm in lol). Just the worst part is the boredom! When i'm not working I wanna go go go and have fun and my girl and roommates aren't the live fast kinda people :/ but oh well I live in a beautiful city :)

If you live in a beautiful city I'm sure you can find lots of fun things to do. Just think outside the box a bit, and try out new stuff. New things are way more fun than old ones usually anyhow.

mad jelly.

I have been considering moving far from home for a long time. but I feel too rooted here, I own a house and literally my entire family lives within an hour of baltimore. its a bit daunting being 29 and not really about that night-life or anything, I feel like I would never make friends or meet anyone.

Congratulations. I hope you will be able to maintain it.. moving back home, especially if it is with parents after living independently can be a difficult if not impossible adjustment period.. i speak from experience.

I relocated to the other side of the world and lived in a foreign country for about 2 years.. started a whole new life, it wasn't planned to be a permanent move and i knew i would come back in time, but it changed my life in a dramatic way.. and im now considering and planning to relocate permanently. In my experience.. if you love the city your living in and everything that comes with it.. you will make friends easily, because you will be motivated to explore and involve yourself more.

The beautiful city of San Diego! And I already am making friends :) quite nice... There is a LOT more to do here than in my tiny hometown of 20,000 people.

I was 17 when I moved out, turned out really well :) But it was right at the start of the final year of school, so that didn't help :\

Good thing you got twice as many people in this situation, that really helps a lot, no only financially but mentally and emotionally too. My best advice is to always have a little bit of savings for emergencies. It may be hard to find those extra few dollars, but when shit hits the fan it can be handy having that $5 for a loaf of bread and a couple litres of milk.

I never realized how important saving money and not blowing my money on kratom was till I moved out! Haha

Yeah, should probably shoot for an emergency fund first. 3-6 months of living expenses. Then focus on saving for retirement.
