Sorry if I am posting in the wrong place this is my first post. I started suboxone yesterday and have been having moderate withdrawal since. Mostly chills, sweats, the worst is muscle aches. I have heard of the precipricated (sp?) withdrawal, this did not throw me into horrible withdrawal so it does not sound like that. I did not use anything but imodium in high doses for the two days prior (had a drug test). Anyway should I keep taking the suboxone and assume the loperamide is slowely leaving my system? Or stop suboxone and wait for full withdrawal then restart. I am on day two of feeling pretty bad. I took alot of suboxone so trying to get out of withdrawal does not seem possible. Thanks for any help

Hey luckylooo123.. Hey Welcom to BL and to the Recover forms. Hey Im sorry you find yourself in a bit of withdraw.. When you go to be put on suboxone they generally want you to be in decent withdraw.

From this link HERE

-The induction phase is the medically monitored startup of buprenorphine therapy. Buprenorphine for induction therapy is administered when an opioid-addicted individual has abstained from using opioids for 12–24 hours and is in the early stages of opioid withdrawal. If the patient is not in the early stages of withdrawal (i.e., if he or she has other opioids in the bloodstream), then the buprenorphine dose could precipitate acute withdrawal.

From what I understand although loperamide doesn't stay long enough when it crosses the BB barrier, it does cross. So I believe that the withdraw you are experiencing is from the suboxone preventing the effects the loperamide. So in other words buy attempting to skip the prerequisite withdraws wanted to begin taking the suboxone you now find yourself in loperamide withdraws caused buy the Bupe. I'm sorry you feel this way. It will pass. Congratulations once again.. If you give us the last dose of Lope time and amount we may be able to give you a time you may expect to feel better. Hang in there<3

I took 40 tabs on friday around 2pm. I took a bit more suboxone today and I think I am a bit better. I was not sure if i should just keep taking the suboxone and when everything is out of my system the suboxone will take over. I heard someone say you have to start over, go through withdrawal from the suboxone then restart. I would like to avoid going through withdrawals again then re starting. I am guessing the lope stays in your system a long time. Thanks

Please keep taking the suboxone..

1. Taking Suboxone Too Soon for the First Time
Buprenorphine (the active ingredient in Suboxone) has higher affinity for the opiate receptors in the brain than opiates of abuse (like heroin or OxyContin, for example).

What this means is – if you are on an opiate drug and you take Suboxone, the buprenorphine in Suboxone will flood the brain, kick out the opiates from the opiate receptors and then fill and block these opiate receptors.

Buprenorphine only partially activates the opiate receptor, unlike regular opiates which fully activate this receptor, so when these receptors are suddenly filled with buprenorphine instead of the opiate they were filled with only moments before – the net result is a sudden and dramatic loss of activation of these opiate receptors. And it is when these opiate receptors do not get sufficiently activated that we experience opiate withdrawal symptoms.

It is for this reason that you must wait until you are experiencing opiate withdrawal symptoms before you can take your first dose of Suboxone. Once you are experiencing opiate withdrawal symptoms, many of your opiate receptors in the brain are already insufficiently activated, and taking Suboxone serves to increase this activation, thus reducing the discomfort you feel.

In other words the discomfort you are feeling is the opiate receptors that the subutex knocked the loperamide off and is now only partially activating, as these begin to shut down you will feel better as you are.. Just hang in there<3 I would say about three to three and a half days from when you started the suboxone you will start to feel dramatically better.

Suboxone can only reduce the withdrawal and not completely eliminate it sadly. You have to expect to still go through some withdrawals while beginning Suboxone.

I'd give it another few days and re-evaluate how you feel.

Thanks I will. I am feeling lots better, just chills and the sweats now. I think tomorrow ill be 80%. I was able to sleep a bit so that's a good sign.
