I don't know if this is against the rules, but I figured I'd ask. I'm looking for a suboxone clinic/doctor in Michigan. My boyfriend and I are both trying to get off of heroin and in desperate need of some help to prevent withdrawals. I have good insurance but heard that most insurance won't cover it. Does anyone have experience with this or know of resources in Michigan. I am not looking to go to treatment, possibly out patient but I work full time so in patient is out of the question right now.

Thanks for any help.

When I was on Suboxone, I found a doctor willing to accept my insurance. However, a lot of insurance companies flat out stopped covering ORT, as there is a "racket" of doctors who overcharge addicts for help, or pass on the overchargings to your insurance company.

Nonetheless, I don't know if it will be impossible to use your insurance or not. Just call ahead and ask. If you contact enough doctors, you should be able to find someone who won't charge an arm and a leg. :)

Why do they make it sooo hard to get? I want to get clean like I'm trying to do the right thing, I don't get it. I've called like 10 doctors and I have health insurance they will take but then they say I need a referral from my primary care. I dont have a primary care because I have been strung out and getting physical wasn't top priority over the past few years. One doctor made me an apt. in three weeks - whhattt lol. Very frustrating and I wish they made suboxone clinics like they make methadone clinics - those are everywhere. I dont want to get on methadone because I know i'd get hooked, suboxone works a lot better for me in terms of getting clean.

sorry just had to vent.
