Hello blighters. Mods, i wasn't quite sure where to make this thread so please move accordingly. Okay. i'm concerned because I have a career that I'm aiming for (juvenile probation officer) in mind, and I have a clean criminal record and will have graduated college in a years time. I am however, on Suboxone and have been on Suboxone once in the past as well. I've seen a psychiatrist a couple of times throughout my life and been on Klonnpin and Adderall too. I'm applying for a volunteer position very soon and when I met with the guy in charge he said they do a thorough background check. But he also mentioned be careful who I associate with, and that even my finances will be examined. No problem there. But if they look at my prescription history and SUBOXONE pops up on the computer screen, all it would take is a quick google search to realize this is a drug junkies take. Ouch.

I'm kind of bummed, I was so relieved to have had all my ducks in order for this job and now that I've thought of this negative possibility I can't get it out of my mind. I guess I won't know until they do the background check, and whether it's good or bad at least I will know. My last job did a background check on me and I stlll got the job so I dunno well see... but that wasn't law enforcement related.

Sigh... stress... any comment?8(

^I do not think that your medical records can be accessed. Ask your Doctor for verification of that.

dude, I have a drug felony, a bunch of misdemeanors all over the US, bad credit, the economies in the shitter...but I don't think just anybody can access your prescription records

Drug testing, of course that's par for the course along with credit, criminal and work history. Since it's county, they will probably want to fingerprint you too. But prescription records are off limits I'm pretty sure. They can, however check to see if you've been sectioned (mental health)

Wow my Mom seems to think that because it's law enforcement they are gonna see all my presciption records and stuff. I'll talk to my Doctor. I really hope you guys are right about this because otherwise I'm gonna have some explaining to do. I've never heard of anyone losing employment because of Suboxone but this is law enforcement were talking about.
