I shot about .4 of dope around 2 this afternoon and was wondering if anyone can tell me how long I should wait untill I can do suboxone and have precipitated wd's.

Thanks.

I hope you mean "until I can do suboxone and not have precipitated withdrawals." Anyway, I suggest waiting until tomorrow night before dosing the suboxone.

.4 is a decent amount of heroin. 24 hours seems to be the standard amount of time to wait, but the longer you wait the better it will work, and the lesser the chance of you experiencing precipitated withdrawals.

It's best to wait until you are in withdrawals and need to take it. Not just feeling a little shitty, but actually feeling some real withdrawal. I always keep busy otherwise my mind will trick me into thinking I am withdrawing more than I am, and if I take it too soon it does not work that well. I suggest waiting 36 hours since IME it works a lot better if you wait that long. I have taken it after 18 hours and it didn't help and seemed to make me feel a bit worse, making me think that I cut it too close and perhaps had the suboxone knock the last few bits of heroin off of the receptors, but not enough were left for it to be severe precipitated withdrawals.

When I wait 24 hours it's like I just don't experience withdrawal after that, but it doesn't make me feel the effects of the suboxone. That's why I prefer to wait 36 hours, since not only does it take the withdrawal away, but it also lifts my mood a little. The longer you can wait the better it will work, but if you can make it that long sometimes it's better to just kick.

^Totally, that's why I wait until I'm in withdrawal whenever possible to dose my pain meds.

For that amount of heroin, I agree 24-36 hours is going to be your best bet.

Yeah, it varies from person to person.. also, how long you've been doing dope for will make a difference as well. Have you been using it daily for a while? The longer you've been consistently using for, the longer you're going to have to wait to dose the suboxone.

When I was really stupid and into my early suboxone treatment I used to do Herioin IV up to 1 to 2 grams a day and for me I was already in withdrawals within 24 hours and I'd sake a sub and be OK. Now, this was me, everyone is different. Don't take a huge dose of Sub, Try something like 2 MG's and see if that helps or if you get sicker.

I say do it when you start to experience the withdrawals.

Although this will likely keep you from experiencing precipitated withdrawals, the suboxone isn't as effective when taken right when you start to experience withdrawals.

It's best to wait until you are approaching full withdrawal. Think about it like this. If you go to take suboxone right when withdrawal begins then taking any less than the equivalent of whatever opiate/opioid dose you would normally be doing at that time would barely help. So if someone is IVing 400mg of heroin once a day at around the time they get sick, if they take suboxone the next day in place of the heroin it won't provide full relief.

But if you wait longer until you are really sick, then it's going to help you a lot more. Basically it's hard to get much relief suboxone if you aren't in much pain to begin with. And dosing too soon is why a lot of people end up taking doses a lot higher than they would have needed if they just waited another 12 or so hours, considering they already waited a day.

I've been on suboxone and methadone treatments, currently on methadone. Suboxone has the advantage of being able to be prescribed by a doctor and you can take your dose whenever you want, not whenever you go into a clinic, as is the case with methadone, at least in the beginning. That's the reason why people use suboxone, because they have much more control over when they ingest it. This can be a good or bad thing depending on your perspective
