when taken valium sublingual, instead of oral do u loose its active metabolits
(diazepam, nordiazepam, temazepam & oxazepam)?
obviously u get a slightly stronger dose of the diazepam but what about the other metabolits?
or is that not converted in the stomach.
is the slightly higher hit of diazepam worth missen out on the the other metabolies.

according to http://www.benzo.org.uk/bzequiv.htm
20-100hrs is the half life of diazepam
& the active metabolites half-lifes are 36-200hrs
& some ppl may want a very long acting metabolits half life incase of tapering or for a natural slow reduction outta ya body
if taken it sublingually it might stop this affect.

& does it shorten the duration taken sublingually? thank you!

Good question. Just take it orally, and no, if you use it sublingually you won't lose any active metabolites. The diazepam is still getting into your system and will still be turned into the same active metabolites. :)

^thanks, beat me to it. FTR- Oral BA is 93%. As long as the drug gets into your system, your body will metabolize it so route of administration will be irrelevant. Of course if you snort a drug that isn't water soluble like diazepam it won't get into your system but as long as it does, your body will metabolize it... I know this wasn't about insufflation, I was just using that as an example.

im still a little unconvinced. are u ppl SURE that this is the case?
if u had codeine in ya mouth its not gunna still convert to morphine but I suppose that does that in your liver.
are u ppl sure that as long as the diazepam is getting into your system despite route of administration the your body will still get the active metabalits.
just askin cuz i think its a fair bit of temazepam, & oxezepam u get out of it too.

As C2theL said, it's all done in your liver. Everything that goes through your bloodstream will be metabolized by the liver and then you will have other active metabolites formed.

Do some reading on how drug metabolism works, and you will understand how it all happens. :)

By the way, the major active metabolite of diazepam is desmethyldiazepam; temazepam and oxazepam are relatively minor in comparison.

One reason for SL diazepam is it hits you a little faster and any waste, etc.. gets swallowed so it's as good as or better than oral. plus they taste minty. mmm.

im still confused Mr Blond if everthing that entered your bloodstread went to ya liver than why wouldnt snorting codeine for example work because that would go straight into ya blood stream but it doesnt end up gettin to ya liver.
it must be drunk to get to the liver & turn to morphine.

Nasal absorption means a drug is absorbed into the blood stream through the blood vessels in the nose. Any absorption of any drug means it gets into your blood stream.

What the others have said is correct. Your best bet is to just take it orally.
