Of all you good little students out there, concentrating on your studies, have any of you ever tried studying on speed, or pills? Usually my mind wanders and I can't concentrate at all, so the end of last year, b4 exams I tried studying on it.
I find that I can study on speed, and get heaps done, I'm very focussed. It actually works.
And I can also do it on pills, although I get distracted and start discussing the subject with anyone who happens to be studying it also.
Mull, I find that it takes me about half an hour to understand one paragraph.
So does anyone else study (or try to) while on it?
And what about essays? I'm yet to write one while on it. But I think it'd work.

Studying on drugs (especially cramming) can leave you over-tired on exam day... some people say you should take the exam under the same conditions as you studied, but this is fraught with dangers such as zoning out during the exam, or writing unintelligible drivel on your paper.
A decent sleep beforehand, and a big glass of water while studying should help your concentration levels. Eating well and being in general good health will help too.

BT thats true about studying - u should study under the same conditions which you originally learnt the original subject (for most people that's caffiene)
If you really want to focus (and cut thru the crap) and there is some, hey, study on COKE. Spead just gets u lookin around for distractions. Coke focuses the mind as to what is important, and what isnt.
And most exam conditions let u escape once or twice for a loo break during an exam :)

BT is right with the water comment. Almost all daytime fatigue is a result of dehydration.
Another exam tip, I did this in highschool and it worked a treat, probably only good if you need music to study like me (cuts out background noise and distractions).
Play the same song over and over. Everytime you study that subject, listen to that song (make sure dif. subjects, dif. songs.) Before long you'll be ignoring the song completely, and it will be cutting out any background noise that may be wafting through the house. Then just before you go into your exam, listen to the song on ur Sony Discman (tm), all the information comes flooding back cos you associate it with this song. Kinda like Pavlov's dog.
Warning: Do not use a song you're particulary fond of, otherwise you'll hate hearing it when ur out afterwards, and you'll be peaking and going up to people reciting the periodic table of elements :)
I'm also a firm believer of not studying new ideas within 24 hours of an exam, as any new info you learn will be stored in short-term memory and will be hard to recall. It's fine to scan over stuff you already know to reinforce, but personally I prefer to give my brain a rest, get a good 8 hours sleep and wake up several hours before the exam so I'm fully awake when the time comes.
I'm also against caffeine on exam day. I find it makes me jumpy and nervous and I can't concentrate. Unless of course it's a philosophy exam, then ratling shit about nothing usually produces good marks :P~
May not work for all, but these are my tried and true methods.

I've found that coke only makes people cranky and impatient - not always a good thing in an exam. Or for the few days after...

You may want to consider using something from the range of 'smart drugs'. That are now becoming available. It could be worth looking into Nootropics etc. They seem to be excellent cognitive enhancers, with little or no neurotoxicity or negative side effects.
Naturally one should familiarise themselves with the effects over a long time before using them for study & exams. As they often require a 'lead in' period of use for the best results.

I completed my Final Year Engineering Thesis on speed.
I used it in small controlled amounts in the last two days to help me focus and keep my eyes open. I really felt like shit once i hadnt slept for 48 hours, but it kept me focused on the work.
I think i consumed close to 2 points over the entire three days, and i got quite sick and rundown for the following week.
That being said, i got 79 for it, so i was pretty happy getting a D in that state. That was six months ago and i havent used it since...so i guess it can be used effectively and not abused.

Ive studied on Meth before (at a computer course...self paced, no set exam dates, which is much better :D ) and that was cool.
Ive also gone into my course the day after new years when i was scattered as hell, which sucked...couldnt concentrate on anything for more than about 5 seconds at a time. Got NO work done in about 3 hours. Ive gone in drunk (me and two mates went to the pub for lunch for a beer...or 10 as it worked out) which sucked cos i felt like crap the whole time...and gone in stoned which was cool and i actually got a lot of work done!!!

Okay being in a similar state during the exam helps a little (It can help you with memory cues and stuff like that) but don't take that as one of the 10 commandments of study or anything. It depends on the person, and for me it doesn't make a significant difference.
Studying on speed made a noticable difference in my grades. But I just took small amounts (eaten not snorted) enough for me to focus, and get through the work.
Don't take speed the day of your exam (being in the same state really make so little difference)
Psychology proffessor practically recommended speed for study.
But be wise about it, don't take enough that you're going to wanna get up and dance etc. eat properly and get some good rest before the exam.

2 things i swear by for studying...
1)if u REALLY need to, take small amounts of speed to help you with focus and attention, not enough to give u a rush, and definielty not enough to make you scattery... space them out evenly and this should keep your mind sharp and fresh for the next question/paragraph/book. Dont do it any more than twice a week, otherwise you will be a pure horror to live and study with.
2) (i really do swear by this, amazing as it sounds!)
write essays and reports etc 1-2 days after having acid. starting on them after u have woken up from your acid trip is preferable.
i find that it makes my mind so much more open to new information and helps with detailed analysis and visualisation of difficult concepts/formulae/designs..
if u are a science or maths major... give it a burl!
