hey i have 2, month old, plants atm in flower pot and they stretched a lil to rise above the ivy thats around them and the pot is not all the way filled up..i realized that this isn't very good for them but now i think they are pulling through fine allthough still very thin stalk..if i add a couple inches of soil to the pot will the stalk grow roots in area that i would have covered in soil...will this help stabilize the plants..iam also gonna poke some shishcobab sticks in there and tie up around with floss i think cuz i want em to get stronger so they can support themselves..

the plants are like 10'' maybe a foot tall and have like 3 or 4 nodes with leaves of 3.

wat should i do..what would yall do

the stem should start to thicken soon. that is when the plant really starts to grow. support them with sticks until they can hold their own because it sounds like they are really stretched out if they cant even stay up by themselves.

ya thats what i plan to do...i wish i could have done it earlier but its in my neighbors yard and its just sketch cuz my rents are usually home so ive been procrastinating on that

but the soil in the pot is not all the way filled up...maybe 4 to 5 inches left to the top...if i cover it up with soil would that start root growth on the stem..and give it more support...or should i stick with the shishcobab sticks and floss to tie it down for support..

I have a plant with similar problem

Ok so I've been growing this little plant for 2-3 weeks and it is now about a foot tall and have a few big fan leaves with 5 leafs, the rest have 3 big leafs and It has alot of little pistils. But I went to go check it today, yesterday it was raining and it seems to be drooping over pretty bad.

Do you think it's because of all the rain or because the stem is so thin? What should I do? Tie up some sticks in the soil like suggested in this thread?

using sticks to tie them up for support is perfectly fine, but it sounds like(& i may be wrong) that they arent getting enough light.

you dont want to water your plants to often when they are flowering, in that stage let the soil dry out almost completely, while they are vegging, water them when the top 2" or so is dry. also, male plants will grow tall fast, while the girlies will attempt to establish their roots more. im not sure, but if you are using a large pot with young vegging plants they may be reaching further down into the soil, retarding the plants growth at that time.

doing that is good for producing grapes for wine, starving them of water so the roots dive deep into the soil in search of water, absorbing more minerals and nutrients embedded deep with in the untouched rich soil.

but thats grapes for vino. it seems it would/could be beneficial for weed grown out doors, but not necessary for in door plants.

would taht start root growth were its covered with soil...??

edit: wtf were my pic..wry grin??/ that was supposed to be C : \

ugh

cause it's on your hard drive, nutsack, you gotta upload it to an online site that will host the image like imagevenue, photobucket or something like that.

if your worried about it falling over because of stretching you probably need to stick it in an area that gets more sun. south facing and you want the majority of your sun to be in the morning if you can't get all day sun in that spot. also if it's tall enough to fall over your better off putting it in the ground because unless you have it in a big pot it's gonna fall over eventually from more size and then become root bound.

i have tied it down with fishing line to a shishcabob stick and its doing well..a lil scrawny...i am thinking of topping it soon once it gets a lil more hardyness to it
