Strange Feeling After Getting Off Elevator?

I forgot I had this problem, I haven't been in an elevator in a while and it only happens when I go DOWN in an elevator. Basically it happens 2/3 of the time that I go in an elvator downwards... I step out of the elevator and when im walking or stand within 5-10 minutes after getting out, i have this sensation for a couple seconds of still going like down...

does anyone else have this problem, ever have this problem or know what it is? It just feels like I am still in the elevator with that feeling of going downward. its just a feeling that overcomes my body, a sensation, for a few seconds then its gone.. but comes back randomly from like 2 to 10 minutes.

Sucks, its sorta scary and freaky when it happens, and I have to use the elevator a lot when I go to the nursing home I'm starting to voulenteer at.

I cant say i have ever had that problem, quite the opposite 4 me, i love going up and down in elevator. Reminds me of when your like quite stoned and been sitting down for a little while, stand-up and get rish of blood to the brain.

I kinda get what ur saying, but thats not it. I dont have a problem going up elevators, but most of the time getting out of one tahts going down i get out and just have like a bunch of sensations that last a couple seconds then are gone then come back for like 5-10 mins. a feeling of like still going downward... im sure someone has to have this, just doesnt read the Second Opinion forum

I get really dizzy, vertigo, feel weak..........
Its funny- I've lived in hotels so much, taking elevators ALL the time- but now for some reason, elevators make me loopy :).

Right? I mean I didn't live in hotels all the time, but i still went in elevators a good amount. Now i dont want to so i can avoid the feeling haha

Yep. Nearly every time. I used to work on the 25th floor of a skyscraper and would need to get my bearings about me every time I got off of the elevator... then I had a downhill walk home to my 5th floor walkup!

I felt very disoriented and needed time to decompress after, most days. And heaven forbid I was carrying something heavy like groceries.

I think it is mostly that some people are sensitive to up and down movements, and it's a form of vertigo.

I don't have an issue with elevators under ~5 stories.

I do as well. Used to work on the 26th floor and I would get super dizzy and disoriented every time I would get off the elevator, and feel like I was going to fall down. It actually gets better some days than others, I dunno if it has to do with blood pressure or what.

^Could be that. My blood pressure is usually barely normal (low) to the point where I can't take Inderal (prescribed off-label for panic disorder; not recreational) which is more or less the only thing I can take to really quell a panic attack.

I get horrendous vertigo if I get up too quickly from a seated or resting position. My doc is baffled about it beyond simple orthostatic hypotension, a known side effect. I cut the Inderal in half because even stone cold sober, I feel like I am totally incapacitated on the whole pill. I will mention the elevator thing to him tomorrow and see what he has to say.

Same deal when I drive up or down hills, which I do with some frequency. Also when I run upstairs quickly, which I do even more often. I haven't passed out and I don't have my meter with me, but I will post my BP reading when I get back from the doc.

Yup, I have extremely low blood pressure too. I was blacking out pretty often for awhile, or just feeling like i was about to, but then i started salting my food and measuring my blood pressure at the drugstore every chance I got. It's gone up quite a bit and now I feel a lot less dizzy and disoriented. I always grew up thinking salt was really bad for you, but I guess it's only bad if you already have high blood pressure which I do not. And I also feel totally incapacitated from my anxiety meds, hmm weird. I always attributed it to me having a low tolerance for stuff like that but maybe its all related.
