I originally posted this in the Drug Basics forum. I feel like it's really a little too simple for this forum, but probably the compounds in question are a bit esoteric for the Drug Basics. It sat there for about a day and a half with only a few looks and no responses, so I figured I'd repost here. I apologize in advance if I've violated some basic bit of Bluelight etiquette. :)

I'm curious about doing dissolution on several substances in order to do liquid measurements. Mostly I'm theorizing about RCs such as the 4 & 5 tryptamines, as well as the 2 series phenethylamines.

I understand from my reading that some of these compounds don't dissolve readily in water, and that high-purity ethanol makes a good solvent. Is ethanol a good solvent for these chemicals, or does anyone have experience with something that worked better?

Also regarding storage... There's always the possibility the DEA will go on a scheduling kick again, and so I'd like to store a thing or two for a rainy day. Is the initial powder form most of these chemicals come in the ideal for storage, or would it do better dissolved in ethanol (or some other solvent you might recommend) and kept in a freezer? What's the average shelf life (freezer life?) of most of these chemicals going to be?

I understand that I'd be dealing with RCs, so not all of these questions may have ready answers. I appreciate any help you can give me!
