Anyone know why stool softeners kill my chance of achieving a Buzz the next day after taking them the night before? Every time i take a stool softener and or a laxative the night before ...the next day i don't feel my opiate "Morphine"? So its not just a buzz, i don't feel my meds at all.?? ...and its a good 12 hours or more after taking the stool softener. Does this happen to anyone else? Or is it just me? :X

help

Would you mind telling us what stool softener you're using?

Guess that would help:
1.Docusate Sodium 50mg
2.Sennosides 8.6

most of the time i just take "Docusate Sodium 50mg" anywhere from 2-10 pills at one time. Hope that helps. ..and thx for the response

After doing some research i see i should be using magnesium sulfate "epsom salt" two teaspons to one cup warm water. I found out opiate users have magnesium deficiency. A magnesium supplement should help as well.

Symptoms of Magnesium Deficiency:
Magnesium deficiency can affect virtually every organ system of the body. With regard to skeletal muscle, one may experience twitches, cramps, muscle tension, muscle soreness, including back aches, neck pain, tension headaches and jaw joint (or TMJ) dysfunction. Also, one may experience chest tightness or a peculiar sensation that he can't take a deep breath. Sometimes a person may sigh a lot.

Symptoms involving impaired contraction of smooth muscles include constipation; urinary spasms; menstrual cramps; difficulty swallowing or a lump in the throat-especially provoked by eating sugar; photophobia, especially difficulty adjusting to oncoming bright headlights in the absence of eye disease; and loud noise sensitivity from stapedius muscle tension in the ear.

Other symptoms and signs of magnesium deficiency and discuss laboratory testing for this common condition. Continuing with the symptoms of magnesium deficiency, the central nervous system is markedly affected. Symptoms include insomnia, anxiety, hyperactivity and restlessness with constant movement, panic attacks, agoraphobia, and premenstrual irritability. Magnesium deficiency symptoms involving the peripheral nervous system include numbness, tingling, and other abnormal sensations, such as zips, zaps and vibratory sensations.

Symptoms or signs of the cardiovascular system include palpitations, heart arrhythmias, angina due to spasms of the coronary arteries, high blood pressure and mitral valve prolapse. Be aware that not all of the symptoms need to be present to presume magnesium deficiency; but, many of them often occur together. For example, people with mitral valve prolapse frequently have palpitations, anxiety, panic attacks and premenstrual symptoms. People with magnesium deficiency often seem to be "uptight." Other general symptoms include a salt craving, both carbohydrate craving and carbohydrate intolerance, especially of chocolate, and breast tenderness.

always separate any sort of stool softener or laxative by at least 2 hours from medication or it can interfere with the medicine. i believe it says this in the warning section of the laxative label. im very aware of my body, and dont like to chance things, so when i use metamucil or sennosides i take them at bedtime (obviously at least 2 hours after my last dose of anything). in must cases, magic by morning or early afternoon (TMI). if not, repeat again. if you dont have a movement for 4 or more days, even with laxatives, its time to stop using until you do, but if you have severe abdominal pain after no movement, get to the ER...they will manually extract it (just as embarassing and awful as it sounds) but impacted colon can kill you. be safe.

If you need to take a stool softener, then I am guessing that you may suffer from constipation. For myself, I wait to go into withdrawal a little bit, and then I poop. It is like clockwork. Have you ever considered this option?
