Stimulants and ADD/ADHD

First I would like to note that I'm fairly experienced with most substances and what have you. Everything from stimulants to depressants excluding psychedelics.

Now my question is, does having any kind of attention disorder effect the stimulative euphoria of "uppers"?

I have been put on prescription amphetamines for ADD back in my early schooling days, I used to feel pretty good off of them takin normally. But at the time I felt they didnt help me so I stopped using them. This question first popped in my head after my first time using coke. I did a few lines over a night with little to none euphoria. Just felt "awake". It was pretty pure too. (Numbed my whole mouth and made my face blush) today I took some Ritalin looking for the speedy high I used to get. But I didn't get more then a little noticible clear closed mindset and had zero stimulation. I felt like I could sleep during its half life.

Back to my original question, would having ADD/ADHD make stimulants inefficient? Or do I just react differently? Any info is great.

This is a very common misconception.

Stimulants (Adderall, Ritalin) effect EVERYONE in exactly the same way. Just because someone has ADHD does not mean they will get a different reaction from stimulant use. The only reason why they use stimulants for ADHD is because people with ADHD tend to have over active limbic sections of their brain and are usually deficient in Dopamine and/or Norepinephrine.

Stimulants are perfect for ADHD because they suppress the limbic system, and release a cascading amount of Dopamine, Norepinephrine and (depending on the stimulant) - Serotonin. The suppression of the limbic system leads to decreased hyperactivity and decreased impulsivity. The increase in Norepinephrine leads to a significant increase in focus, and a significant increase in energy and feeling awake. The increase in Dopamine leads to increased motivation as well as helps with focus.

I am personally diagnosed with ADHD-C and whenever I take Adderall I feel really jacked up.

The reason why this is - is because of stimulants mechanism of action (stated above). It's the same for everyone - ADHD isn't going to change that.

Thank you for the answer. Very interesting stuff. I plan on further looking into this topic. Kinda explains a few things too

No problem! I recommend you watch this. Russell Barkley has conducted many studies about ADHD and has a PHD in Neurology. This video perfectly explains ADHD and what it's like to have ADHD.

People have all kinds of reactions to drugs. Generally, people with an attention disorder who get high off their medication are taking too high of a dose.
