Spinning weed. . . why?

Hi guys.

Just a question. . . I've always spun my weed, since the first day I smoked many a year ago. I've always been told to do it, and that it prolongs the weed.

My question is - how/why does it prolong the effects of weed? Can anyone give a scientific-type answer?

Thanks!

Astaroth :)

EDIT: Sorry, 'spinning' to me means adding a small amount of tobacco to your mix.

wtf are you talking about. Is spinning slang?

If so explain it and maybe someoen will reply.

spinning is mixing your weed with tobacco.

I spin my weed i.e add tobacco so its about 60% weed 40% tobacco sometimes a bit greener

Im not sure why it prolongs tho..

ahh, yes I always use a little tobaco with my herb. Not much under 10% but it definatly adds to the quality of burn and can improve taste in the right mix.

This is very common in the UK, probably because most people started smoking hash. You need cig to roll a hash joint so I guess people are use to using it eve when they use buds which are more common than hash nowadays.

Where I am from "spinning" means to tumble the herb to collect trichromes.

It only prolongs your weed because theres more to burn. You use less weed per cone (or bowl for the yanks).

Many like it because it will introduce a high quicker (or at least mask the come up with the headspin) but i dont think it affects the actual length of your highs.

I dont spin my own mix, but most in my regular smokers circle do; so for group sessions I'm quite used to it. (And sometimes enjoy the headspin).

Individual choice really.

just use blunt wraps

It seems easier to merely roll up your treasured herbs in a blunt. There are so many different kinds of blunt wraps available in great flavors. No need to add nasty regular tobacco to the mix when these are around.
My favorites are Cristal 'blunt Wraps'. The worst wrap on the market today is 'Blunt rolls'. they have great flavors but the fuckers burn up like a fuse. Really shitty quality.
'TRUE BLUNTS' are my 2nd favorite. They are a little bigger than the wraps so you can get 2 blunts out of 1 wrap. SWEET!

While i was in germany and switzerland what you call "spinning" was very common. I didnt like it, the nicotine rush or "buzz" would interfere with the cannabis high. But if youre a regular tobacco smoker then i guess this may be a wanted effect. Although when i used to be a habitual tobacco smoker, i prefered rollin up a smoke after i've smoked a bowl or two.

And wouldn't it waste your bud in the long run? Nicotine is a very addictive stimulant w/ reinforcment qualities (meaning it promotes constant, repeated use)...

Yes putting tobacco in your weed will prolong it, because you are adding more to smoke, as someone has already said. No, it won't prolong the effects of the weed. There have been a few threads on this topic recently. Just use the search engine.

Thanks guys - that's what I thought.

I was thinking that when people say to me 'it prolongs the weed' they were talking about the length of time that the weed will physically take to smoke and not the effects.

Thanks for the answers ;)

Where I come from there are a lot of asshole growers that like to flood the market with uncured and basically wet weed. In that case you have to dry it as best you can, untill you give up and just mix it with super dry tobacco to make it burn better.

But you're still paying for water :(

In fact, weed when put into a joint, using normal rizla's and herb, no fag, makes the joint last longer as cannabis is harder to burn than cigarette, we all 90% of UK smokers i assume add some cigarette to our joint, this is to give the bud a smoother and more of a taste, although most of my bong hits are only cannabis, friends still add cigarette.

I dont know why, its an usal thing, and i also find when mixing cigarette with the weed, i get higher, i think this is to do with more smoke is inhaled because less will be burnt off as tobaco has a lower burnin point....??

Fuck putting nasty ass tabacco in with good old weed its just stupid and retarded i won't even smoke the shit, disgusting why would you want to do such a thing, i hate when people waste weed like that as tabacco does nothing for you except get you addicted and eventualy kill you not to mention your supporting the WOD by buying those nasty fucking tabacco products.

Actually, I had a think about this at work today. . .

I've got a feeling (that in my case, anyway) that the tobacco may help to reduce cottonmouth a little. I have no research to back this up, but I'm going to start tonight.

I'll have X amount of cones without spin, then have the same amount (adding a bit to allow for the spin so I get the same amount of weed) the next night, then without, then with, etc etc.

I am not sure, it's only a theory. I just remember a few weeks back when I ran out of durries and smoked without spin, and I got some SERIOUS cottonmouth.

I think I'll go and test the theory now :)

I like to hold my hits in for at least 10 seconds, and that sucks if tobacco is involved. I agree that a cig can increase the high slightly, but I usually prefer to just smoke pot ( unless at a party).

I will never smoke tobacco and maryjane in the same bowl, spliff, cone.... whatever. It's absolutely disgusting to hold tobacco smoke in for that long.

I'm so glad I quit smoking cigarettes. What a nasty, nasty habit. :X

i believe this happens a lot around germany and europe because they get a lot of hash rather then the buds we get in the us. they don't get a lot of weed to roll joints with so a lot of times they just put tobacco in to fill the j. at least that is how it was explained to me by a guy that just moved here from france.
