so i'll lay the groundwork, any input would be appreciated.
i've played soccer all my life, with the exception of the first couple years (when i was too young to know any brands and differences) i've worn adidas and have always been happy with them. in retrospect however, i've never had top dollar boots or anything so i've never TRULY experienced maximum comfort as i've been more or less purchasing for price rather than comfort and control.
even during indoor, i've always worn adidas, but my indoor shoes always have given me a few problems as far as comfort goes, though i never knew whether that should be chalked up to the surface i was on or the footwear i was wearing. a couple years ago, however, i was talking to a friend and fellow soccer player who said he's never been a fan of adidas as they've always been uncomfortable to him, mostly because of the narrowness.
so a couple years ago, i purchased a new pair of boots for the spring/summer/fall. remembering what he said i decided to try a different brand as i've ALWAYS worn adidas and was looking to expand my game as far as comfort and feel goes. i figured if i try something else, i'll have more of a basis for decision so i bought a pair of nikes, though still looking for a deal. so even though i branched out and tried a new brand, i still was somewhat skimming the surface on what was on the market.
there aren't a ton of places around me that sell soccer equipment, let alone GOOD soccer equipment, so i decided to take my voyage online and see what's out there. anyways, this is getting long winded so i suppose i should just cut to the chase.
i need new boots! i'm willing to spend money on them, but don't wanna break the bank either. probably $150 USD would be around my limit, MAYBE even as high as $200 if they're backed by credible sources and all signs point to them being worth every penny.
now for the details that may or may not be relevant (some are, some aren't):
-i'm typically a midfielder or striker.
-i'm right footed, but have a better left footed shot.
-i have pretty good footwork and make a lot of small touches.
-i'm not a particularly muscular build, about 5'10" 150 lbs.
-i wear about a 9.5 US or 10 (my nikes are 9.5, but are a little tight).
-i'll be playing on a soft surface (grass... sometimes muddy).
-i'm a fast runner and rely on speed, stop and go, and cutting, to beat opponents.
-i'm more of a passer than a shooter (but will be shouldering more weight for shooting this season).
so i'm curious about good brands, lines, models, etc. what's gonna be the most comfortable, give me the most control on my shot, etc. what's gonna last the longest. basically any information that may help me find a good pair of boots (preferably before april 19th). adidas, nike, puma, mizuno, pantofola d'oro, asics, whatever. throw everything at me and i'll filter the information i need.
btw, links to articles on performance and reviews, etc are welcomed as well. thanks in advance.
