I want to get 2 tattoos done one on my shoulder and one on my chest but I'm afraid they won't be perfect. Yeh I'm going to do some research and get someone with good credentials but what if they do make a blemish or it comes out wrong. I think I would cry so much! I'm a worrier too though but still want one.

you either cover it, remove it or (most likely) live with it. it's just a tat, doesn't really matter.

No tattoo is 100% perfect. All of my tattoos were done by very talented artists but I, being the perfectionist I am when it comes to certain things, still notice small spots of where maybe ink wasn't filled in completely or whatnot, but it's something only I noticed and it can always get fixed and touched up. As long as you go to a reputable place and get yours done by a professional and have reviewed their work and portfolio beforehand like you already mentioned you were going to do, you have absolutely nothing to worry about. If for some reason something does go wrong and it doesn't look as perfect as you want it to be, there are always ways to fix it. The more you worry the more it's only going to cause problems and further delay you actually going in and getting one. If you want these tattoos more than anything and know you won't regret them, go for it, and don't worry!!! =)

And also, make sure you take care of it really well afterwards while it's in the healing process. Some people end up messing up their own tattoos that had been done very well by a professional, but fuck it up because they didn't care for it right so some of the ink comes out, a scab messes it up, etc. So just make sure you take care of it properly while it's healing and you won't have any problems.

^ Absolutely this.

Honestly... I'm an artist, myself, and very much a perfectionist when it comes to art. I'm extremely picky in what I like artistically yada yada yada, but for some reason... with tattoos, I actually don't mind the slight blemish because it adds a little imperfection to an already imperfect product... MYSELF! So long as it looks good I can deal with something minor. Now if it's a complete misspelling... I get that, but a tiny jut on a line? Makes it look more individualistic and human, in my opinion.

That aside, so long as you go to a tattooist who went through the process and apprenticeship properly... you really don't have much to worry about. It's a LONG process and they have to fully understand it before they really get turned loose on people. Truly, so long as they have a steady hand, you don't have to worry about much else because you can SEE the art BEFORE they put it on you since they do it on a stencil first.

1) you get what you pay for
2) the more time, effort, and planning (and custom art) you put into/ invest in your tattoo, the more serious the artist will be when it comes time to do it, and the better it will turn out.

Your attitude about it becomes the artist's attitude about it. If you are all fucked up and come in and pick some stupid fucking clip art out and come back the next day all hung over to get it done, no artist is going to take you seriously. If they are a pro, they will still take their job seriously and do a good job, but it opens you up to way more a chance for mistakes.
If you come in sober and coherent with sketches, lettering samples, etc... and have a consult with the artist, put cash down, etc... they are going to work hard on adapting or turning your concepts/ sketches into viable ink art, and then do a good job when it is time to throw down.

i have a tattoo and it got messed up, he didnt do a good job on one part. but i went to another artist here and hes done plenty of tattoos ive seen so i trusted him. he did an excellent job and i love it now. i did flinch though on one part and made a small scratch ink spot but he tried covering that up a little too. but mainly what most do is cover it up.

maybe only get half of it done and if you like it then, then continue through him/her. if not someone else can still fix it and its not a big job.

My husband has no halos for the heartless inked across his chest
the t and the l are crossed which is the first thing I noticed

he wasn't pissed as he okay'd the stencil on paper and when it was put on his chest
the artist said he could shade or do something to fix it
he still hasn't got it fixed
