I am a daily smoker and she was as well until we found out about 6 weeks ago. I kept on tokin and, of course, she stopped. She is through the first trimester and is at 13 weeks and wants to take a few hits this evening. What should I do, I mean I cant stop her and dont intend to, but should I encourage or discourage her smoking pot while preggers?

My gut tells me it just a damn plant and it should be just fine. Especially, if she just smokes a time or two.......any help or advice would be appreciated.

I dunno, its probably not a huge risk-- but why risk it at all when its your child's future at stake? You are parents now, so you should get used to putting your child's well-being ahead of your own pleasure, IMO. I would discourage her, personally.

The opium poppy and the coca plant are just damn plants, yet they regularly are used to produce drugs that ruin peoples' lives when misused.

Your view that it's only a plant and therefore benign to your wife is incredibly simplistic and shortsighted.

Unless your wife is incredibly irresponsible, she should refrain from smoking full stop, whatever the research says. I think it's too much of a risk.

even if its a small chance it may affect her pregnancy I would say she should not do it..... is it really worth possibly fucking your child up for life?? Maybe thats a small sign that she is not ready to have child... I know when me and my wife had our first and our second child it was not even something we thought over it was a no brainer to just stop smoking the tree untill the child is born. In fact to support my wife I even quit with her untill she gave birth. You two have your whole lifes to smoke marijuana but the birth of your child only happens once.

this..

I have heard of studies proveing that smokeing marijuana while pregnet does not harm the baby in the womb but even concidering that I strongly advise against it since. You never know; and I dought she would really want to be responciple of even the slightest defect.

Poor kid....

wow.....what a bunch of judgemental and pretentious individuals in this thread. All I did was ask a question looking for information, not judgements. One person provided information, all other's seemed to finger point and name call. Like a bunch of 10 year olds! So, I am the one that's immature? Is that right?

Only one person tried to reason or give me infomation on why it might be a good or bad idea...all other info was just petty name calling and this brilliant little gem above, which I have quoted. Unbelievable. Honestly, I thought I was a dealing with a more educated group of people, who, although, might disagree, would ultimately bring debate and lively conversation and information in this thread. Instead I had only what I could imagine as some back wood "yocals" getting out their "pitchforks" and getting ready for "one of dem lynch mobs".....huh? Better hide the IP address....lol.

BTW, she decided not to smoke and said she wasn't really considering it in anyway......... 8):p

yeah, if you're still smoking your wife will always have that lure to continue smoking again. make of that what you will.

why all the narrow mindedness in this thread? do any of you have sources of even one pot related birth defect?

i agree that smoking full on should be avoided but a couple puffs every now and then to help ease pregnancy symptoms would be fine for the baby. there has been enough research done to prove this.

doc's tell pregnant woman to take tylenol as needed for pain. i imagine that being way worse for the unborn child.

i imagine a big factor would also be amount of cannabis intake, and frequency,

ots ok to have a drink (1 drink) everynow and then when your pregnant, birthdefects caused by FAS are cased by repeated drinking and in intoxicating amounts,

if a recent study says it actually has a chance of reducing child mortality rates, and possibly improve cognitive functions, moderation is key
