So I've always been under the assumption that lack of sleep is always a negative thing...
Now I've gotten maybe ten hours tops of sleep in the last four days. I haven't been diagnosed but given my excessively extreme abuse of dxm in the past, I'm pretty certain I have HPPD. I'll sometimes see trailing, but not all the time and usually if I'm staring off and I notice something in my side view. But all last night and this morning everything was like that, which is unusual for me. So I thought maybe the sleep deprivation was catching up with me. I just googled minimally on it and came across some pretty interesting information.

It says that sleep deprivation with or without medication can lift depression, and also have some other pretty decent effects.

I want to hear others opinions on the pros and cons of sleep deprivation.
Also, I know it's something I should probably discuss with my doctor, but I have lupus. Lack of sleep increase cortisol Which stimulates the immune system, which is clearly a huge no-no for lupus. But, I have very severe clinical depression and am on vyvanse and cymbalta, which in theory according to this source would do wonders for the depression. So, I wonder, to sleep or not to sleep?
I also may have nocturnal epilepsy, but that is in no way a definite yet. All I can say for sure is that it has severely been contributing to my unrest foul sleep if and when I do actually sleep. As I also suffer from PTSD so I've had nightmares every night for the last four years straight, doesn't make for a good nights rest. On top of the lupus fatigue and depression.
Yes I'm a mess.
But anyway.
Input? Opinions?
I'm so curious about this new found information!

Sleep deprivation is a form of torture. Complete sleep deprivation is impossible for humans (you will just end up falling asleep somewhere) and when experiments were carried out (on rats), the experimenters found out it is fatal.
Prolonged sleep deprivation will make use of heavy machinery or driving extremely risky ... I see no point in sleep depriving yourself.

With all due respect, unless you have other sources that aren't Wikipedia I wouldn't believe that there are any 'positives' to sleep deprivation. :\

THIS. Consult your Doctor. Only they have information on your medical history, current medications, mental health and actually has the qualifications to advise you of ANYTHING medically.

I implore you to stop looking at the Internet for supposed conditions and illnesses you may have. If you don't feel right, consult a professional.
