I poked around and couldnt find anything to satisfy my curiosity.

My question is, if youre in withdrawal,

  • how do you feel when you wake up with a few hours sleep ( <1 - 4 hrs. )
  • how do you feel when you wake up with decent sleep ( 4-8 hrs. )
  • how do you feel when you wake up with you max. ammount of sleep ( 9-12+ hrs. )

hey i will take a go since im in withdrawal had just had a fuckin horrible nights sleep... I woke up every hour or so for about 7 hours but the first 4 hours are really only where i went into REM i believe. When i woke up after the first 4 hours i felt horrible so i went back to sleep with clonidine for an hour and so on. It was misserable but now im awake and uhhhh fuck iwish i slept good. if i get 9-12 hrs of sleep and its good sleep then i love it but when i wake up i feel horrible.

If you are in withdrawal, the more sleep you get, the better you are going to feel... sleep is a very important part of healing your body. This is why detox clinics always try and give you enough meds to put you down for at least a few hours.

Getting a full 8 hours of sleep while in withdrawal though is not likely... even with some good drugs to help you. If you can get 4-5 hours of sleep... consider yourself lucky.

But like I said, the more you can sleep the better off you'll be and the faster you'll get well.

youre right scag... getting 4-5 hrs is pretty lucky in withdrawal. Im in pretty mild withdrawal from suboxone compared to the methadone i used to do and other shit so i can still sleep a little but idk if i could get more than an hour or two without the clonidine, that shit is a life savor for sleep.

This is my 23rd day of being clean from any opiates and the first few nights I was lucky to get 4-6 hours and the only reason I got that much at first was mainly b/c of benadryl which I have to take every night(or at least some sort of anti-histamine) everyday b/c of a chronic skin condition I have where I itch and welt up if I don't have an anti-histamine every 24-32 hours...anyways the sleep gets better as time goes on but in the meantime check out melatonin, valerian root, 5-HTP, or my personal favorite Phenibut. Not only will Phenibut help with the anxiety that comes with WD's but will also give you a decent nights sleep for now. Regardless though, it's a bitch no matter what you take to sleep and none are going to knock you completely out while in WD's but some things work better than others.

That sucks mane have you ever heard of listening to brown noise to help you get to / stay asleep?

This is what i figured but like I said I couldn't find much information on the subject. Personally I think anything less than ten hours for me and I will feel like dooky. It also has to be on a strict schedule.

The weird thing is when I was younger I had a lot of trouble going to sleep, a lot of times just staring at the clock until it was time to wake up but now I have almost zero problems getting to sleep.

Even in w/d if I lay down at a good time and dont watch tv or w/e I will get good sleep. Doesn't matter how bad the w/d, it could be three days of heavy hydro poppin' or few months of oxymorp. / heroin ( 60 - 120mg / couple bags ) daily intranasel usage. I know how it feels to be in heavy w/d and get no sleep so I count my blessings.

How much benadryl do you usually take and isn't Phenibut like a rc benzo ?

When I sleep, I always feel worse when I first wake up. And the more i sleep the worse I feel. But once I'm up for a little while n get the blood moving I feel a bit better. I just hate how bad I feel immediately after waking. Sometimes I try to put off going to sleep as long as possible just cause I hate the waking up

Anywhere from 50 to 100mg's but keep in mind I've been taking it since 03 so my tolerance is pretty built up to diphenhydramine(aka benadryl) As for Phenibut, it's not something you wanna take long term, or even everyday on a consistent basis b/c your tolerance builds up quickly and it CAN become addictive according to certain studies, but I've found it's more habit forming than actually being physically or psychologically addictive and I've taken phenibut everyday to every other day in the past up to a full month with no problems. It's def a safer alternative to benzo's to take the edge off for 3-4 weeks while going through WD's. I would only recommend it no more than 3 to 4 days a week to keep it's effectiveness though. You can dose it strictly for sleep or you can take it during the day to take the edge off from the WD's and to get a little relief from feeling like shit. Personally I like phenibut in the day time for anxiety(1000mg-1500mg) and for sleep I take my benadryl, 3-5mg of melatonin, 200mg's of L-Theanine, and a gram of valerian root. You can get all those at any health food store and at most places like wal-greens, super-d, wal-mart, etc. I've never seen Phenibut at a place like wal-mart but any health food store should have it.

Bawmit can you explain to me what brown noise is please? If its worth it i will give it a try tonight, thanks man.

Well luckily for me I've never had withdraws for a long period of time bcuz I'm always able to get my hands on somethin to get rid of the sickness. As for sleepin while withdrawin id imagine if you were to pop a few bars that would knock ya out for a few hours and get some decent sleep rite?

So if you get, say.. 12 hours constant sleep how would you feel waking up?

How much benadryl would you suggest for someone with no tolerance to get some decent sleep?

How much Pheniut would you suggest for someone with no tolerance to USE AT WORK AS AN ANXIOLYTIC ?

Brown noise is an alteration of white noise ( like the stuff you hear on old tvs when there is no signal )

And don't confuse it with the brown note from south park this will not make you sht yourself..

I can't find any studies saying brown noise sleep aids sleep just testimonials. IME it works great. I was diagnosed with insomnia and this worked for me better than the sleep pills they prescribed ( ambien, seroquil, etc. )

Just do a google search for simply noise. In my case I downloaded an MP3 of the brown noise and play it, with headphones when I want to sleep.

Well luckily for me I've never had withdraws for a long period of time bcuz I'm always able to get my hands on somethin to get rid of the sickness. As for sleepin while withdrawin id imagine if you were to pop a few bars that would knock ya out for a few hours and get some decent sleep rite?

With most people, yes.

Thanks Bawmit, i had good sleep with benadryl last night so i didnt need the brown noise but now that i know what it is im going to look it up and see how it makes me feel, thanks man.

P.S. man hahaha thanks for the laugh about south park.

Good sht braj. I would recommend you do that. Search simply noise and click on the brown icon after the pink one but this is also case by case some people say white or pink noise works better for them. Also one thing I came up with that seems to help is to think about extremely random, unrealistic, dream-like thoughts and transition those thoughts into other random, dream-like thoughts. IE. I sometimes think of say... peeling an orange and then skateboarding in the hollowed out orange peel as if it were a half-pipe then, falling into a glass of water, breaking through the bottom and falling into a black abyss of space or water..and I just keep going like this until I sleep which is usually 20-30 minutes.

Imagine being in jail, in w/d's, starving, stressed out, sleeping on a mat that's hard as steel, that lays on top of a metal bunk bed.. Then add the screaming of about 50 other inmates for hours. Sounds like a challenge right? This is where I came up with and perfected this method.

When I was last in detox, the meds they were initially giving me didn't work at all, so I didn't sleep for a good 7-8 days straight... I'm talking not one wink of sleep. I was incredibly sick, had a seizure, the whole nine yards. Afterwards, they switched me to Seroquel.. and it finally put me down at night for at least 5 hours or so, sometimes more. Well, after that I started feeling much much better. Your body does most of its healing when it is asleep.. so if you never sleep, you don't heal as fast. My withdrawal symptoms began subsiding more and more after I started getting some damn sleep. I would wake up and feel better and better, though still far from 100%. That, and of course I was beginning to loose my mind from sleep deprivation.

Just goes to show the importance of at least getting some sleep during withdrawal.
