Shroom leg problems.

My room.
Last night, I dosed a fairly strong shroom containing chocolate. (at least an eighth maybe more) About an hour into it, upon trying to walk, I got this debilitating cramp in my left hamstring. It makes bipedalism almost impossible.

I have taken shrooms once before. (an eighth) The very same thing happened. That time I attributed it to taking it on Friday after working landscaping all day.

I was actually sore a little in my right leg yesterday. But low a behold my left leg cramped up just like last time. It resulted in me laying down the whole trip listening to Pink Floyd. Which is awesome, but I was really hoping that this time I would be able to walk around, just like my friends who took the same amount did flawlessly. :!

I have taken acid a heap of times, one of those being a huge dose. I was still able to walk around when I decided too.

I UTFSE , but nothing showed up.

Can anyone help me with this?

I'm going to eat half the chocolate next time. (I can get them again)

see a chiropractor (most will give a free consultation and first adjustment), you may have some restriction that you don't notice while sober (since our bodies are very good at compensating and hiding pain). it may be affecting you while tripping because your sensory/motor cortex is distorted and you are not moving your body in the same way as you do while sober.

have you tried to massage the area (while tripping or sober) ? if it is just a cramp, you should be able to relax it out with some deep breaths and a hot bath.

I wouldn't do 'shrooms anymore if it's happened twice now... at least until I figured out what was going on...

Yes I have tried the massage while tripping, it didn't help all that much. Ending up feeling kinda weird rubbing my leg like that sense I was tripping so hard haha.

I would only be interested in seeing the chiropractor if it's free. It feels completely fine and even good sober. My landscaping job has put some miles on my legs and I think if there was something wrong, I probably wouldn't be able to perform my job. As walking commercial properties with an edger, weed eater , hedge clipper, then blower everyday should show some symptoms of a leg problem.

Deep breathes and relaxation do alleviate the pain as long as I don't move it. As soon as I move it, (even to continue trying to get rid of it with some stretching) the pain returns.

Like I said, acid doesn't have this effect, does it affect the sensory/motor cortex in the same way?

Not sure if cramp is the correct word, actually. Sorta felt like the muscle was flexing really hard and I couldn't make it stop.

I have this problem with shrooms too, i did end up going to a chiropractor, albeit for different reasons and it didn't help the shroom cramps. Maybe you could talk to your doctor and tell him you get debilitating cramps in your legs every once in a while. He might have some advice or quick remedies. I chose an easier method and just do acid nowadays.

you may also be having some kind of allergic reaction to the 'inactive' ingredients in the shrooms - cell wall material or spores maybe. some people simply don't agree with shrooms and you may be one of them.

i can't think of the mechanism that would cause a cramp in one leg though, that's just odd :/

Thank you for this post. Everyone else I have asked In person has absolutely no idea what I'm talking about.

Yeah I think I'll probably just do the same.

This is why I was thinking of trying a lower dose. If there is a perfect dose that gives me an enjoyable time, I would very much like to find it.

^this. common Ps. cubensis are fairly weak on the mushroom potency scale, so if you ever get a chance to try Panaeolus cyanescens (also known as Hawaiian or Copelandia) most people require less than 1g dried for amazing trips. these mushrooms appear very different to cubensis, very frail and thin and should give you minimal side-effects. the ratio of alkaloids is also purported to be very good for highly euphoric and visual trips, but who knows really. [most quantitative analysis methods we have will give wildly varying numbers for psilocin/psilocybin ratio simply based on solvent choice, temperature during extraction, or whatnot]

There are also the wood-loving Ps. cyanescens or azurescens which are similar in potency to the Panaeolus but are completely different in appearance (more fibrous and dense than cubensis) and may give you similar side-effects if you have problems with cubensis.

What I think is that psychedelic tryptamines such as contained in magic mushrooms can give the so-called 'rubbery legs'. I'm not entirely sure what goes on there but apparently there is less clonic tension and stiffness in your legs to walk on.
Now for some people this may be not even noticeable but if you are predisposed to an instable walking posture, the shrooms might tip you over especially if you strain yourself.

Seeing a medical professional is probably a good idea if you have any trouble whatsoever with your posture sober, but it just sounds to me like you don't notice it well but it is there continually.
