Okay, so I know it's my fault for leaving the browser in the same place for five minutes while I typed, but this post was intended to go in the Beginners' FAQ under Set and Setting. I have no idea what happened; the browser redirected without any clicks or anything.

Whatever. Here's the post.

Set and Setting.

I’m pretty new here, except for a couple of experience reports, so while I had some free time (and a tiny bit of MXE), I decided to check out the Beginners’ FAQ, which led me to Set and Setting specifically. I felt an instinct/urge as soon as I saw that title in the list. That’s the reason for this post.

I do believe set and setting are important to a psychedelic experience, especially the first time on a new substance. I do find, though, that some substances allow for more “wiggle room” in that area, for example, MXE or LSD. I find that changing set/setting on those substances doesn’t really cause any negativity in the trip.

However, DMT is a completely different story. At lest for me. I guess I should mention that DMT is the basis of my spirituality,. DMT gave me faith, which nothing else in life did. I believe in DMT.

My preference for set and setting for smoked DMT experiences is mainly to be by myself. I just can’t have other people near me when I go there. DMT is completely non-social for me. I’ve become a professional at eyeballing exactly 75mg of DMT freebase. I don’t enjoy using less. This applies to most other psychedelics as well.

So that’s the set. My apartment, alone, silent darkness. The setting consists of two parts: prayer and attire. Like I said, my spirituality is tryptamine-based. It’s generally along the lines of “I am in your hands, I believe, and I trust. Please show me guidance.” I swear on my life it enhances the experience.

Well, that’s my two cents. Safe journeys and happy travels!
