I am about to undergo a fairly minor surgery but will have general anasthesia. The doctor asked me whether I had taken any "recreational drugs" recently and if so, which ones. I answered "no". It sounded like he was saying that some "recreational drugs" may impact the general anasthesia negatively. Does anyone know whether e would have such a negative reaction? Has anyone gotten general anasthesia shortly after rolling? I have tried searches on the internet but came up empty. I don't want to reveal my drug use to my doctor if possible. A truthful answer will be greatly appreciated.
Thanks and PLUR always

Don't tangle with your health!
I know for sure that speed (amphetamine) can be very deadly in connection with general anesthesia.
Since the doctor asked you about 'recreational drugs' i really don't know why wouldn't you tell him the truth (he is obliged to keep in secret whatever you tell him about your health, so he will not call the cops!).
It's very serious - tell the doctor the truth! General anesthesia is a severe issue!

When it comes to my doctor, she knows everything.
I tell her that i do use drugs, what i took and when i had it, Even if im going to get something like a flu shot. Its best that your doctor knows things like that because they are there to help you take care of yourself. They cant say anything without your consent (hippocratic oath) so theres no worries there. Its just smarter and much less danger for yourself if your honest and open with your doctor.

Sweetie, don't fool around when it is your life and health at stake!! General anesthesia is not something to mess around with all by itself, let alone after giving your doctor false information!! Doctor/patient confidentiality!!!! Don't let yourself get seriously hurt because you are a little embarrassed of what you do...If you are tht embarrassed...Don't do it...Your doctor cannot tell anyone...All that he can and will do is give you a nice lecture and a list of NA meetings...I also promise you that he has heard MUCH MUCH worse things from MANY MANY people!! Take care of yourself!! Tell your doctor!!
