I've doing some thinking about my past life and I noticed that every sober time I have had I have been getting my fix from adrenaline rushes from different situations.

These include but not limited to fighting MMA matches and training for them, parachuting, driving in a car with flat tyres which is been shot at by Afghan tribal warriors, driving on a race track etc.

I've noticed that while I have been sober but still tapering for eight weeks now I feel like I crave more oxycodone but if I engage in some kind of activities which let my adrenaline flow I am good for few days after that.

Does adrenaline and endorphines truly affect that well to our bodies so that you can even combat drug cravings by that? If so it seems like instead of dying from drug overdose or something other drug use related I might dy by engaging into potentially hazardous activities then :P

your last paragraph pretty much summed it up. Surfing is my thing and whenever I am out in the water, the only thing I am concerned about is catching another wave. Dropping into a wave truly is an adrenaline rush and I would pick that feeling over a shot of dope any day.

you know that feeling in your stomach when you go on a roller coaster and it does a steep fast drop? yea its great only when you drop into a wave its so much more intense, then you ride the face of the wave and for those seconds the mind is COMPLETELY shut off from everything except finishing your ride of course

adrenaline and endorphins certainlly help me stay clean, when the forecast for waves looks good I am instantly in a good mood, and I crave to surf, not get high. People have told me when I talk about surfing my face and voice/ emotions lights up!

there are things out there way better than getting high

Good job on the sober time! I think you already know the answer to every question you asked honestly. My advice is to try and find balance. Adrenaline sports are fine as long as you are taking the appropriate safety precautions.

I've also noticed that listening music with a volume that you are able to feel the music instead of just hearing it also reduces cravings up to a point. (Luckily I do live in a detached house and the nearest neighbour is about 1 000 yards away).

I have been doing indoor cycling as there has been plenty of snow until lately and it has become my favorite stamina training. There is something rewarding in getting yourself up to a point in which you are so exhausted that you nearly puke and have to lay down for few minutes. Feels pretty much same as getting high on opiates.

Tomorrow I am about to go to a bike shop to get myself a normal bike. If some cyclist has any opinions what kind of bike is good for someone suffering from back problems I'd be happy to hear out.
